I hope you will all join me in sending an email to your congressperson and ask that we support true Islamic scholarship, here and abroad. I admit that I did not know very much about Islam last week, but I have read enough about the subject recently to come to the following conclusion. The spread of true Islam is a must for world peace. We need to support Muslim Clerics who spread a message of peace and self reliance. There are far too many "Moslems" in this world who pervert this beautiful religion and spread their evil seed among the poor and illiterate in third world Asia. This should be treated as a national security issue!
Okay, so let me get this straight, we can not have peace unless we accept Islam!?!?! What is in your water?
At the moment, just ice. btw, it is not a matter of accepting Islam or not, because Islam is here to stay, and growing faster than any other religion. Somebody is going to teach these new followers their new faith, and we should care who the teachers are. The question is- what can we do to help responsible Moslem Clerics teach Islam properly? How can we support religious people who want peace? We will avoid problems in the future if we use our resources to attack the roots of problems, not just the horrible aftermath.
"The spread of true Islam is a must for world peace." I`m sorry but this seems like a knee jerk reaction and to say it`s the fastest growing religion is debatable. To say that it is a National Security issue is just plain silly.
From CNN- Fastest-growing religion The second-largest religion in the world after Christianity, Islam is also the fastest-growing religion. In the United States, for example, nearly 80 percent of the more than 1,200 mosques have been built in the past 12 years. I am sorry my friend, but you are wrong. In 20 years, there will be many more Muslims who were taught their faith by somebody. Do you want the radical Egyptian clerics teaching hate and violence? btw, calling me "silly" shows me you have nothing real to add to this thread. Why don't you explain why ignoring thousands of young men who are being taught to hate and possibly kill Americans here and abroad is not a National Security Issue? We need to embrace the Islamic world and help spread the word of peace that is true Islam.
hotdog: this is a very good idea. I saw a GWU or Georgetown professor on Fox this morning essentially saying the same thing. He wants the US to organize a grand tour of US Muslims from EVERY STATE to tour throughout the mideast preaching the true message of Islam. Is it too late for Bob Hope! He sees the Islamic world being held "hostage" by a few powerful, militaristic militias. Statistically they were reporting that 75% of the Middle East population is under 25. On a large scale, look who they are taking their instruction from. This isn't your father's Islam! I keep hoping that when this is over, those millions upon millions of Muslims will be surprisingly grateful like the guard was when Dorothy threw water on The Wicked Witch of The West. The relief of tyranny must be great.
HotDog, That is truly one of the best ideas I have heard. You look at a situation like the Taliban for example. They were a few religious fanatic warriors on horseback in the mountians of Afghanistan. The US saw their fierceness and financed them, armed them and trained them. Now with their weapons and war skills they have taken over the country. The female suicide rate in Afganistan is over 25% and the Taliban Support rate is less than 10%. A small, very militarily strong (because of the USA) force of COMPLETE FANATICS rule by way of military might, fear and oppression. As individuals in these 3rd world countries are frustrated because of a lack of economic systems allowing them to achieve what any human wants: a home, family and some security. So they turn to the religious fanatics as a way to channel their aggressions. Fanaticism is a problem in every religion, but with the war-torn countries of Islam this has propelled them to the most extreme, most violent groups calling themselves "Muslims"
My reading of the Constitution says the US government can not give my tax dollars to any religious group to help them spread their idealogy. Let's try not to forget that minor inconvenience we all call, the United States Constitution. Thanks!
