damn good..... downright fantastic, actually. it's a damn shame it took me so long to give them a chance... "everybody know's this is nowhere" and their new filmore album (albeit only 6 tracks) have been in constant rotation lately.
I'm a huge fan of everything Neil Young has ever done. He did an solo tour a couple years back... It was him, a piano, a harpsicord, and a half dozen guitars and harmonicas and he played for just about 2 hours. What an incredible talent.
I love Neil Young's music. One time, in 1984 when he was on his country kick, I saw him play the rodeo arena at Gilleys. He had a great country band behind him that included Byron Berline on fiddle, and he played a bunch of stuff from "Harvest" and "Comes a Time". A very unique and wonderful show. I also saw him with Crazy Horse at the LA Sports Arena in 1992 with Stone Temple Pilots opening.
he's one of my favorite artists between me and many of my friends, and we are in our early 20's. Growing up my dad listened to him and thats where I heard about him. I'm also big on Cat Stevens.
Neil may have overtaken Dylan as my all-time favorite solo artist. I think I have 28 of his albums (it may be 27 or 29 but it is around 28). I like all of his styles whether it is the country/acoustic of "Harvest", "Comes a Time" (awesome album), or "Harvest Moon" to Crazy Horse/hard rock such as "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere", "Zuma", "Rust Never Sleeps", and "Ragged Glory". SWT, If you want some more Neil/Crazy Horse stuff, pick up "Zuma", "Ragged Glory" and definitely "Rust Never Sleeps". His music has definitely helped me get through some lonely times.
Really enjoy his music to this day. Zuma is my favorite album, but have enjoyed them all. Good thoughts!
I used to pan my stereo all over to the left speaker, and play guitar along to the "Everybody Knows" album. Then I'd pan it over to the right, and repeat.
Love Neil Young, after seeing this thread I think I will pop in ragged Glory or something after spending a day at McKinney Falls watching the dogs run around.
zuma is my favorite neil young album. on the beach is really good too. i too got into him by going thru my dad's record collection when i was a teenager. he had harvest and after the gold rush, which i still love.
Has anyone heard his new album? Its not bad, but dosen't have the magic of his old albums. Each track is about how he's down on bush and the war lol. I think the album is called living with war
I first saw him in concert with Buffalo Springfield, and have been a fan ever since. The man is a genius. If anyone's never seen him live, and have the chance, do yourself a favor and go. It really doesn't matter what kind of music he's playing, or which group, if any, is backing him up. (or playing with him as a group, like CSN&Y) You'll enjoy it. He won't be around forever. None of us are.
The guy can play guitar. Like Keith Richards, you really don't appreciate how good he is until you see him play live. He can bring it.
