Every single game this year the small forward position kills us. We need to go through with the trade for Gill, and then we need to draft a small forward in the draft. Our defense has been horrible as well. When you have certain players in your unit that can't play defense, like Bullard, you tend to suffer because your defensive rotation tends to leave a man wide open. Any ideas on who would be a great defensive SF, in the draft, that can also create his own shot?
There's a guy named Shane Battier listed at no. 19 on John Thompson's top 300 prospects. He is described as being a really great defender at the three. I personally have never seen him play, so I don't know about his ability to create his own shot. Maybe he might be a decent choice with the Detroit or Magic pick. Also, do you think the ability to create his own shot should really be a requirement of the Rockets' small forward? With Francis and Mobley, the team should already have a couple of good creators. I'm really interested in the defense though.
Does anyone know if he actually play defense now? Battier use to only draw charges. I can't believe Battier has almost 2 blocks and has 2 steals a game. Only a turnover a game. If the trade is true, it will wait till Tmass is healthy. This is the wouldbe roster. C Hamilton Cato PF Rogers Thomas SF Anderson Gill SG Gill Mobley PG Francis Drew If Gill would suck it up and play 15-20 at SF, I would like this deal. Still don't like attitude. Deal needs to happen soon so the rockets have option of sending him somewhere else if he choices to leave.
