Agreed. I have noticed the people you speak of much more than I would like to on this board. You have to try to ignore them......err......I've tried with minimal success. Lol
Not sure the profanity is necessary, but I agree that it is nonsense to look to point blame when we lose two close games against the two best teams in the league without our superstars. Rather, we should see the positive side - our roleplayers did not surrender, but fought back. If they keep that attitude, and our two stars are back, look out in the playoffs.
Learn to read knucklehead....I posted on the first page. And my disdain for JVG has nothing to do with losing to Dallas and Phoenix...I have been consistent about my criticism of him from the day we hired him.....what is idiotic is to think that the FIRE JVG group is because of 2 loses to the top 2 teams......that is simply not the case. The Fire JVG crowd notices that he is poor at managing rotations, slow at making adjustments to his game plan, never develops young talent which leaves us thin when injuries happen and overworks Tmac when he has an already aching back. I will say that Batman should not be calling anyone names.....that is just the first 2 letters short of class. DD
Since the team is doing well (holding the 6th best record in the west, a great accomplishment), only the following topics are allowed: 1. JVG is great, he is a championship caliber coach, and he should be coach of the year. 2. Rox is playing great; they will win a championship this year. 3. Yao or T-Mac will win MVP this year. Or they can be co-MVP. When Yao comes back, Rox will beat everyone else and win 16 straights in the playoffs. Then everyone is happy.
First of all -- wrong character. A batman is a gentleman's gentleman, or more technically "an orderly of a British military officer," i.e. Batman Smith, Batman Winters or, in this case, Batman Jones. Second, like DaDakota, I will be happy to eat crow if JVG leads the Rockets into the NBA finals. However, I don't think it will happen because he is one-dimensional. He is a brilliant defensive coach, but his offensive skills from clock management to player rotations / substitutions are lacking in comparison to other NBA coaches. Thirdly, he seems reluctant at best to develop young players. Another poster in another thread said he had no young players to develop. Why is that? ... Because he trades them for veterans -- usually on the downward slope of their careers.
I've stayed away from the GARM recently because of these morons. Losing 1 game is not the end of the world. Losing 2 w/o your top 2 against the top 2 is nothing to worry about. If/when Bonzi gets healthy, missing McGrady & Yao will hurt even less. I believe that it's a combination of JVG, Battier, and the reemergence of Mutombo keeping us alive. If they manage to stay 10 games above .500 when Yao comes back, I promise the rest of the league will take notice and will be scared. This will be one team that no one wants to face in the playoffs regardless of seed.
Ugh...it has nothing to do with 2 losses.....as stated.....NOTHING TO DO WITH 2 LOSES...... It has everything to do with taking a longer view of the season and realizing that overplaying Tmac will only hurt you in the long run. DD
Okay, out of curiosity, who would you have hired at the beginning of this season? (serious question...not trying to argue or anything) I agree that JVG has his flaws, but so do most coaches. I just really don't think that there are many coaches out there that could get this group to play as hard as they have been playing and that would be as prepared as he is every game. I don't consider him the best coach out there, but I don't get, based PURELY on this season alone, why anyone wants him out. If we tank the season when healthy, then yes...but for now, I really don't get it.
I think everyone needs to accept that duhdakota is the be all end all of basketball knowledge. I have accepted that, and life is so much clearer now
Perhaps, but I can't find a funny picture that goes along with that. On a related note, can some photoshop this pic to superimpose JVG's likeness on the bat symbol? It can become the rallying cry of JVG supporters when they are besieged by grumpy JVG-hating ne'er-do-wells.
Tough question. I would try to lure Rudy T back into the fold, that would be my first choice, then I would have to see who is out there. I am ok with JVG, but I just don't feel he is good enough. DD
I see you TOTALLY missed the point. What BJ is asking for is some SANITY...the last two games were pretty impressive showings that any team in the league wouldnt be unhappy about, Some people say no excuses, but being shorthanded and against superior talent and holding our own is something to be proud of adn looking longterm, its good to see the role players learn that they can compete without our main guys. Discussing things you would have done different if you were the coach is absolutely a good topic, but lets have some logic and sanity in the discussion. not endless cracks and insuilts with no substance to back them up. There are severak of you guys (in the generic sense, k?) that repeat the same rant in every thread possible, whether it was originally about the subject of your rant or not. b****ing/WHining != discussion arguing for a logical viewpoint backed with facts = discussion not as long as this place resembles ESPNs boards we arent. BJ I owe you a pitcher my friend ....strongly worded as I would expect out of you...but damn fine writing.
This post should be another chapter in the Bible. There's so much truth to it. Y'all are f***ing idiots.
I think there's room on the forum for differing opinions regarding JVG. Every year, good coaches get fired and bad coaches get retained. Good coaches usually get fired because of bad players and bad coaches sometimes win because they have talent. As far as JVG, there are some things he good at and some not so good. Your opinion of JVG as a coach, depend on things you think are the most important qualities for a good coach.
batman jones, are you clairvoyant? you knew all along battier was coming to houston when you made that clutchfans bbs name of yours, back in 1999, didnt you? ah, simply amazing
