    We need Bonzi because:

He is the only Rocket outside of Yao/Tmac who can consistently create offense.
He is the only Rocket who plays an aggressive style of ball.
He is the only guard *other than Tmac* who can help rebound.
He plays decent defense as a "big guard".

    We shouldn't hate Bonzi because:

His low motivation is understandable (2.1 mil. for him vs. so many other overpaid scrubs in the league + we can't pay him after the season is over)

    We shouldn't trade Bonzi because:

If we're worrying about losing him next year, we are going to miss our best oppotunity to "win now", which is the direction we are headed.
His actual value is far greater than his trade value.

We should run more plays for Bonzi because:

Even as our third best option, he is often ignored on the offensive end. (Ignored by JLIII even after clapping his hands for the ball)
He is a willing passer out of the double team in the post, allowing us to use the same offensive set as Yao.
A Three-headed monster is better than a two-headed one, beat the first two, and the third one can still get you.

now is bonzi's chance to shine (once again).

i hope he's ready to hustle and start working for next year's contract - whether it's for us or not.

Bonzi can give this team such a lift. He's physical, aggressive and can create many mismatch problems with his post game.

We need to think long and hard about if we really wanna trade him because he definitely gives us nice insurance and production at the 2 and 3 spots.

Well, he's got to get it together. It's painfully obvious that JVG is not going to hand him the third scorer's role. He's going to have to earn "go to" status.

I agree he can help us but he's got to do it. And if he ain't gonna do it, then move him for something.

Sure but lets hope we don't alienate him in the process, we don't have another third scorer waiting in the wings, and we almost certainly won't get one in a trade.

Excellent thread! I wholeheartedly agree! Trading Bonzi is a bad idea...we wont get equal value in return. Also, is there no way we could sign him for the full MLE next summer if it works out well?

Play Bonzi more and the coach should tell John Lucas to return to the Point Guard position and start distributing the ball again. if the coach has instructed John to play the shooting game then the coach needs to be corrected as John's shot is way off at the present time.

you mean move him for nothing

VG has a certain way of doing things, he likes to run his team tighter than the KGB

if snyder wins the role over bonzi, i will be gobsmacked. if the rox trade for some scrub role player i will be gobsmacked. if said role player is VG guy, i will be gobsmacked.

it seems he hastold everyone to shoot, all those missiles flying over our heads, those are rox 3's.. although thank goodness that people who criticize VG can't get hit by one of them because VG has an eschewed sense of range and frequenzy

Bonzi Wells line (posted only because I happened to be looking at it)
    17 Mins 3-7 FG/ 0-1 FT/ 4 RB/ 2 ASST/ 0 TO/ 1 STL/ 2 BLK 0 FOULS/ 6PTS

Zero fouls probably cuz he was too slow to catch anybody

Bonzi looked willing out there, gave it a good effort. That's a pretty decent stat line really for the number of minutes, Chuck Hayes like. I liked how after when he got fouled off a made bucket and knocked to the ground, Battier went over there to pick him up and give him a pat, lift his spirits a little bit. If he can't play on this team with these group of guys then he's just a plain out terd.

He's still plenty out of basketball shape so the key is to for him to get CONSISTENT 10-12 games in a row of 17 minute games and get back in the groove. Him and Snyder. Then we'll get to see what him, TMAC and Yao on the court together can be like.

    *edit*
I'm hearing Bill Worrell even mentioning Bonzi's name more and more, how the Rockets need him as an extra go to guy and strengthen the depth. This is his time now to show up and step up and prove what he's really about. He's missed a third of the season, plenty time off to even with his 'paltry' 2 million dollar salary

For a moment during the game when Bonzi was taking FTs, I'd thought he was wearing a bra. He really needs to work on his chest, seriously.
