I'm sure that this would be a tough sell to Dumars and picks may have to be included, but given the stated position of the Pistons being interested in Bonzi and our need to upgrade the four, could we possibly parlay Bonzi and Sura into Mcdyess?

Detroit now has Webber and to eat up his minutes, and his play could be invaluable to our team.

I haven't given up on Bonzi yet...

but I think CWebb is playing Center for them, so Nazr or Dale Davis would be the oddmen out, and Detroit was supposedly interested in Bonzi for one of those two, but who knows...

Don't go there just yet. Chauncey is gonna opt out soon. Maybe Bob Sura alone, so they could take him off the cap come offseason and have room to sign Billups.

Like I said in the other thread, this is my dream trade. Then we need to use the TE to get another PG to eat into Rafer's minutes.

dice = (howard now) + (hayes)

McDyess? When is his contract up? I have a feeling he signs here at the end of his current contract anyways.

McDyess has played like crud this year. Based on pure talent/age, I'd rather have Nazr.. But I don't know what McDyess's contract is at.

I have mentioned that trade before as well. Obviously I agree. :D

I would like to see Bonzi flourish here. But if JVG isn't going to play him or if we feel he just wont work here, parlaying him into a PF that can play some 4/5, rebound and shoot jumpers is certainly something we shouuld seriously look into. Especially with Yao out until March.

McDyess' contract has another year on it at a Player Option and I think he will take it. So his contract lenght isn't bad at all.

Why would we want a 2007 McDyess when we have a 2007 Howard. After many years of NBA service and the former's knee injury they are basically the same player--a very usefull vet for some quality minutes but also players with notable limitations as starters.

Except Howard can give you more minutes (McDyess has to be held to about 20MPG) and right now Howard is shooting a lot better, especially from the line.

I think Howard/Mcdyess rotation is much better than a Howard/Hayes rotation. I love Hayes' effort, but he is just too short. Mcdyess will do a much better job on the defensive boards and covering taller men. You could use Hayes/Battier to guard the shorter, faster pf's. Last night was a good example. When Mutombo went out the Mavs went crazy on the offensive boards and when Dallas went small Mutombo couldn't play the outside shooters as well as Mcdyess. Of course, Yao would have made up for some of these issues. I think Bonzi will never get out of jvg's doghouse.

Because Chuck has fallen off a cliff and we could sit him down. I don't buy the idea all of Chuck's problems will be solved when Yao returns. That is wishful thinking in the extreme. Come playoff time, Chuck will be lucky to get on the floor at all. McDyess could also play a few minutes at center and give us some mobility at the position before and after Yao comes back.

However, I am very concerned that his performance has fallen off a lot this season. That merits a close look before making a final decision.

    A healthy, in-shape Bonzi > Mcdyess

It wouldn't be bringing in McDyess to limit Howard. It would limit Hayes. And I like Hayes, but only in small doses.

What Howard/McDyess you could even play both of them at the 4 & 5 against teams that play a faster lineup such as....the Mavs with Dirk at C. ;)
You would still have size in the front court for defense and rebounding but at the same time punish teams for playing smaller with guys that can shoot and score in the post.

Maybe, but I don't think jvg thinks Bonzi > Snyder. I also think our matchups at power forward when Hayes is in the game are going to kill us. His effectiveness has been getting less each game as teams exploit his size.

How can you possibly think McDyess would be better than Hays

McDyess has back spasm problems like T-Mac, has had the microfracture knee surgery and has been in the leage for ten years. You would be trading a better Bonzi Wells for someone with the same stats as Hayes. The only difference is he's 3 inches taller than Hays. Here are his stats compared to Hayes from the NBA website.

    McDyess
    20.6 mpg .427 FG% .594 FT% 5.6 rpg .5 apg 3.1 pfg 5.3ppg

    Hayes
    21.3 mpg .548 FG% .568 FT% 6.6 rpg .5apg 3.6pfg 4.7ppg

On top of that McDyess doesn't have the lateral movement like he did before the knees gave out. If this were the McDyess of seven or eight years ago, I would be all over it, but then of course Detroit probably wouldn't be trying to trade him either. I would go for Nazr Mohammed instead, he's got similar numbers but he's 6-10 and could sub for either forward or center, plus he's 29 years old so could give you more years.
