That's a good point. The Mavs usually are a fairly low assist team since they get most of their buckets on isolation plays. Their coach made a nice adjustment to beat the Rockets defense with the extra pass. 24 assists for the Mavs is pretty high.

He's a loser. He pretends to be a Rocket insider, but every piece of information he gives about Tmac's or Bonzi's return has been way off.

I get my news from a factual reporter--Jonathan Feigen, not somebody who pretends he's an "insider". He's just a show off

Save it... Bonzi was getting more and more (and more) time off the bench until he got hurt. JVG threw him right in there as soon as he was ready. Same goes for Snyder.

The Rockets play their bench when they actually have tangible talent on that bench. A fully healthy Rockets squad would employ FIVE quality bench players playing decent minutes in Mutombo, Head, Snyder, Bonzi, and Hayes. Not many teams (except the Mavs) could throw that out there.

Bonzi was not in uniform today. His back may not be healed yet.

We lost tonight but I was pleased with what I saw. Our team still competed and were in it for most of the game, and they still have no way to stop T-Mac. If we meet them in the playoffs they still have no way to contain our 2 stars., Hopefully this crop of role players will do better than the old cast, and our new perimiter players don't get abused on the defensive end.

I believe he is closer to the team than most of us. At least, he knows Colin Pine well, apparently, and I believe he has given correct information more than once. Doesn't necessarily mean that all his opinions are right, but I don't think he pretended that that's the case, he is still entitled to his opinion.

It was a good try against a team who didn't miss late in the game. They just kept killing us with matchups.

Anytime a team has a PF who can shoot from range, we're going to be screwed. (KG and Nowitzki so far).

Dikembe tried man, as frustrating as it was watching him, he's trying his ass off he's just not athletic enough anymore. They are young, athletic, strong, talented, yet experienced at the same time.

T-Mac kept us in the game and gave us a shot at winning it but they hounded him beginning in the second half - they threw double teams at him everytime he touched the ball and his teamates didn't step up enough to make the Mavs pay for it.

As long as our role players don't have to be respected by the other team, our stars will get hounded by double teams.

What killed us wasn't their big 3 (Terry, Nowitzki, and Howard), it was George's mismatch on Deke and Diop/Dampier/George getting OFFENSIVE REBOUND AFTER OFFENSIVE REBOUND. They just kept tippin it all the way out to half court.

If Yao was there, it would have been a totally different story, but that's what we're going to be saying for the next 6 weeks. :(

Outside of the starting 5 who else is there? BTW Head played more minutes than Deke.

Also the Mavs rotation was 8 players deep.

    Clutch,

He didn't play a horrible game, but he didn't play well either. 4-5 behind the arc does not make up for 0-5 from inside the arc, or the 4 TOs, or the 1 rebound. But I guess you're right, 4-10 from the field (40%) might be the best I can demand from him as a starter on a team with championship aspirations. I don't think it's too much to ask for our starting PG to shoot better than 20% (or whatever it is he's shooting over the past ten games or so) on layups and floaters.

I have been more than willing to give guys a chance to prove me wrong. I have come around on Battier, Juwon has won me over big time with his play as of late. But Rafer simply hasn't done enough to earn it, at least IMO. I don't blame him, I just don't think he's good enough -- or a good fit -- for this team.

I guess what I am saying is if this is what his 'good' games look like, then we have a problem, Clutch...

This comming from a guy who thought Reggie McNeal would be a better pro prospect than VY...your sports IQ might be on par with SF3's BB IQ

    A few things:

    - Head is much more than a one dimensional three point shooter. I'd like to see him adopt a mid-range game. He's too talented a player to be a point guard's Sam Mack.

    - Yes, Tracy should get rest but if he's feeling it. -- And this assuming NO ONE else is producing or influencing the momentum I'd expect to see Mac out there if for nothing else than to create for the team. Alston does a good job and Lucas to a point but no one on this team has the ability to set people up and look for their own shot like TM.

    - Huge game defensively by Battier. The guy was everywhere just being an absolute pest on the other side. Offensively, he didn't get to play his game but I wasn't really concerned with his play.

    - Don't look too much into this loss. Without George going off and going perfect from the field along with Dampier banging the offensive glass this game would have been very winnable. But I really credit George with going off in the third and fueling the comeback. How do you prepare or match up someone who is hitting everything? You can't. Ask Dallas about Mcgrady. That was the killer.

    - When Houston was in this game Dirk looked off. I think we more than any team frustrate him. Yes, in the end he finished us off but by that time we were the deer in headlights. Howard wasn't much better, imo.

They looked like a one man team that just dropped to a better team at the moment. They're just more prepared for a forty-eight minute knock down drag out fight.

I think JVG realized by watching his post game comment he made a mistake taking Deke out...I believe it gave the Mavs the confidence they found something...nothing was working for them then Avery decided to go with setting Devin for outside shooting...it would have been better for the Rockets if JVG decided to either scheme against that play or instruct Deke not to sag..

GOOD game, but only for MAC.
Anyway a road game against the best team in the league, I can accept the result.

This game shows why we couldn't win without T-Mac even we had a monster Yao a month ago. The key point is our role players and the bench. Shane and Luther didn't play well tonite, and Mavs' bench did well.
But after Yao coming back, we will beat Mavs. No matter how good they are, I insist that Rox will beat Mavs with our duo, just like last season Heat vs Mavs.
