I was in Las Vegas opening week of the NBA and out of curioustiy week to the Sportsbook in the Bellagio to see what odds were for the Rockets to win the NBA championship. I was thinking 10:1, maybe 8:1, possilbly even better with the prospect of a healthy Yao, Tmac and now Battier and Wells. To my suprise the odds were 26:1 !!! I just couldn't help myself and put down $100! Mostly out of principle for the disrespect (at least in my mind). So everything was looking good and then I happened to BE at the game when Yao broke his leg. I was thinking my bet just went down the tubes. But wow, have they really come together as a team now or what! They can win without Tmac, they can win without Yao! Provided they get Yao back in time to get his wind for the playoff push I think they have a REAL shot at it this year. There is only ONE team that scares me in a playoff series... and it's NOT Dallas or San Antonio. I think we could beat both of them in a 7 game series. That team is Phoenix. We just do not match up with them well at all. If we can somehow avoid them in the playoffs I really think we have a legit shot to win it all this year! And I have an excuse to fly back to Vegas to collect my $2,700.00! (I get my $100 bet back too!) Lets go Rockets!!!
Heheh, I hope you win on your bet. I have to be the party pooper, but we haven't shown we can win without TMac yet though :\ I hope we never have to find out if we can or not.
Yo i put a hundy down on the rox when the odds were 18-1, so im with you dude. I agree also that Phoenix is the only team that we would struggle with. Every good team has one team they just cant beat. Back in the day it was the sonics for us, now its phoenix. Either way, Go Rockets!
Well, 1 game out of many over the last couple years isn't enough proof to me that we are a good team without TMac. The statemtent is made as a generalization. Can we win...of course, but do we win on a "consistent" basis, we haven't shown that we can.
Do you get anything if they dont win it all? and can you cash in your bet right now and make money or is it championship or bust?
Hopefully the Rocks will win and of course you get your money...albeit, we have a long way to go before the second season (playoffs) begin. I want to see us finish out the season strong and continue to peak for the playoffs. This team has to become a constant performer in big games and learn to make the playoffs every year (ala Phx, Dallas and SA). When was the last time that SA missed the playoffs???
My bet was much much better. <BR><BR> I took the Over on the O/U 46.5 wins. Easiest money ever. I assumed we'd lose Tmac for 30-40 games and still get to 47 because of the emergence of Yao as a true superstar.

Agree with you 120%!!! We've been struggling against PHX for past several years and now that they're even better! but usually in Playoffs games are slowed down half court games with greater defense instead of up tempo games and I think PHX will struggle with that and not get far like last season!
PHX management is amazing with the team they put together. They are also going to get a Atlanta's pick this year (1-3 protected) or next year (unprotected). I have a feeling PHX is going to have a very high pick because Atlanta isn't going to get better anytime soon. AND THEY GOT ANOTHER FIRST ROUND PICK AND DIAW from that trade. What robbery.
Then let's pray that Phunix draws the Fakers or Jazz in the 1st round as they have trouble with both.
