I see, that is understandable. I am going to wait to see which format wins out before I jump on either. But I will tell you that downloading Movies and UFC matches off XBox Live has been a real nice preview of what a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray player will look like on my HDTV.
Yeah, but the Wii will never sell to that one graphic-craving demographic that sits in its efficiency apartment in the dark eating junk food, drinking energy drinks and peeing in a bottle so they can play Quake all day.
That's a pretty good reason to buy the PS3 then. Myself, I'm going to wait till the mvie studios sort out this mess and like the other poster, will stick with digital distribution for now. I'm considering the new NetFlix service for $17.99 a month which delivers movies via online.
Just Resistence and NBA2K7...I heard Need for Speed Carbon was cool, so I may pick that up...Movies, I got the MI series, XMEN III and am looking for Superman Returns... What about you? Of course, it came with Ricky Bobby...Man that movie makes me laugh...Where you watching the game tonight?
Based on the games you play, I'd get a 360. If you can wait until Halo, GTA, Madden 08, NBA 2K8, etc., come out, there will probably be a price cut on the 360 (plus maybe some revisions). This would probably be in the 2nd half of the year sometime. Kind of depends on how well the 360 sells until then as well as the other systems, but I'm guessing there will be a $50-$100 price cut before the end of the year. Or you can see if those deals from the holiday season are still good. I think some people were getting the $400 Premium SKU for like $200 due to some special offers. Spoiler Of course, the Halo-killer known as Killzone might be released on the PS3 by the end of the year. During the first two months, the reason was that there were more Wiis in supply. The PS3 could have been a huge hit, sold out everywhere (practically did), but the Wii probably would have been kicking the PS3's ass regardless. Now this month forward...
Initially supply was a problem for the PS3, but when Dec came around we saw the real reason. You could easily find a PS3 sitting on a retail shelf in the month of december. The wii was/is simply in greater demand than the PS3. Its really simple: The PS3 costs 599/499 and has a weak launch library/online integration. The Wii costs 249 (if you could find it for this price) and is fun to play. This month forward, the PS3 is still not selling, but Wii's are scarce. Visit any game store or retailer. If you want a PS3 below retail, check ebay. I'm sure sales will pick up when better games are released.
Based on December sales and what Sony said they shipped, the PS3 pretty much sold out in December. I don't think it was that easy to find them based on that. Now this month, things certainly seem different. I'll wait until the sales figures before thinking too much about it though.
It wasn't the graphics that were important when the decision was Genesis vs SNES. Their output was pretty comparable. It was about who delivered the games, just like every other console war. If you can't tell the difference between the wii graphics and the other 2 systems, then you are blind. The wii is kicking the PS3's ass because of the price and only 1 game out for the PS3 worth a damn.
I've been playing Resistence and Fight night 3 for the most part. Movies, so far I've only bought 2 of them besides Ricky Bobby, got Superman and Black Hawk Down, both of them look awesome and are huge upgrades over the Standard DVD verisons! Just kicking back at home tonite and watching the game, gots to save some spending money because we are heading down to Houston this weekend for the game vs. the nuggs
PS3 has some nice exclusives coming up, and you shouldn't overlook their own in house game studios coming up with something fresh, like they did for the PS2. You have to remember, besides Halo, Microsoft gave up making games themselves because basically they sucked at it.
The last good thing I remember coming out of Sony's in house dev team was NFL Gameday which totally revolutionized the football game.
what i never understood about the quake people was that the they have these super computers but they play with the graphic detail all the way down cause they believe it would speed up the game!
the best buy i went to had more ps3s than 360s. they had 15 ps3s practically on display for ppl to grab, but nobody was buying it.
Sony's 1st/2nd party dev teams are arguably the best of the 3 companies. Mostly due to sheer size and variety. They don't really have anything that compares to GTA, Halo, or Madden though. Spoiler Yet.
Jak and Daxter Ratchet and Clank ATV offroad fury Downhill Domination(I loved this) God of War Gran Turismo ICO Killzone Loco Roco Motorstorm Resistance SOCOM The Getaway overall they are all significantly better than HALO, Project Gotham, Forza, and anything else MS has to offer
Gamerchannel had a special about the console 360 v ps3. We all know the wii is for kids which nintendo gears for. They said the only games that use the full enhancements of the console are the ones designed by the console makers like gears of war and the one for ps3. When they took the regular games like madden and such the 360 looked better and played sharper. After that its a matter of what you really want, but 600 bucks does seem extreme.
As of right now, I'd have to pick the 360 over the Wii and the PS3. There are are more games available, the best online service, and I can play Gears of War, Dead Rising, and Halo 3 later this year.
