    before you guys bash me...

    360 premium console ($260)
    (no hard drive)
    wireless remote
    64mb memory card ($30)
    gears of war ($50)
    -------------------------
    - $340

    I could get a Wii ($250)
    built in 512MB
    Wii Sports (included)
    extra controller/nunchuck ($60)
    zelda ($40 ebay)
    -------------------------------
    - $350

after i beat gears, i just dont really have the urge to play anything else on the system. what do you guys think? i was thinking, mom /dad/ sister/ friends could get into the wii-sports, while i could get into zelda/metroid

xbox isnt that family friendly, although the graphics are amazing. id like to also note that i dont have Live but i do think ill regret selling it when halo 3 and resident evil 5 come out

    such a tough decision

Or, you can see if you can borrow a wii from a friend, let your family play it, get them hooked and force your dad to buy a wii ;)

id say get a Wii, then get the 360 later when the price drops or upgrades with the new features.

I think the Wii is more likely to drop its price than the 360 because Nintendo is making a profit out of them.

But if enough people buy the Wii, they won't need to...

If you don't play online, you could try to mod your 360....

I don't see them dropping the price anytime soon because it's selling extremely well. By cutting the price they would be reducing their margins for no reason. The demand is very high and you can't even buy one at a retail store.

At $249 a piece that price point is just right especially when compared to the others @ $299, 399, 499, 599.

Yobod: Do you really think you can get that much for your 360 and a used copy of a game? I would keep it. There are some great games coming out for it, and the Wii is a totally different experience. And I thought the premium system had a HD? Also, Wii Play is coming out soon, and it comes with a Wiimote.

Invisible Fan: Don't take this personally. Your post is just...wrong.

What??? Why would Nintendo reduce the price of the Wii?

Nintendo Sales Department: Wiis are selling like hotcakes!

Nintendo President: Lower the price! We don't need to make money on our product!

    ;)

I have several friends with modded 360's, and they play GOW online every night.

I would hold off a bit on the wii if you are hardcore gamer. As everyone who I know who has one plays wii sports, zelda, and some games from Virtual Console. That is about it. 360 has a bigger library and many games have dropped in price. It is up to you, but that is how I would go about it. I am getting a wii this weekend myself to go along with my 360.

Assuming you prefer the 360 to the PS3, I'd keep it and try to save up for a Wii. I'm assuming a lot of gamers will end up doing that (buying a Wii and a PS3 or 360).

Both systems are somewhat likely to get price cuts in the latter half of the year I imagine. Wii demand is insane right now, although it doesn't help that Nintendo is way behind their shipment targets (which weren't all that great to begin with considering the hardware). If they can get that straightened out, they might be able to meet demand a little better. I don't know if it will fade away in 6+ months though. Kind of hard to predict how the Wii will do in that time period.

Obviously, if both systems needed a price cut to increase demand, Nintendo would be in a better situation to do it.

BTW, how long do you keep your systems? I swear I remember you getting a DS, then shortly after selling it (with your PS2) to get a 360 not that long ago (late last year). Just curious.

If you don't find any of the other 360 games enticing then I say go get the Wii. I have both (no PS3) and I think there are plenty of games on both sides that got me salivating. You should try Lost Planet if you like Gears of War. Dead Rising is great. But if those things aren't your bag than the Wii is also very awesome.

I have all three systems. The Wii is much more fun with more than one person. I personally rank the games:

    1) xBox 360
    2) Wii
    3) PS3

xBox and Wii are both very good. You have to try the Wii out for a while because although i like it a lot, I know some people that dont.

If there really isn't games you want to play on the 360, then you might as well sell it if you can get that much for the stuff.

I'd suggest picking up some good GC games on the cheap to tide you over while the Wii drought continues.

Both great consoles, but it all depends what you like. If you are looking for a console that is good for family fun or a group of (real) people, the WII is the way to go.

The xbox 360 has a better online experience right now (If you want to play Madden or Gears online for example) and to me has a much better library of games.

MCV report reports that Gabe Newell, the founder and managing director of Valve Software, has labeled the PlayStation 3 "a total disaster."

"The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think It’s really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted," Newell told Game Informer magazine. "I’d say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a ‘do over’. Just say, ‘This was a horrible disaster and we’re sorry and we’re going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it.’"

Newell drop another bomb. He believes that the Nintendo Wii will win the console war.

"I’m betting that by Christmas of next year, the Wii has a larger installed base than the 360. Other people think I’m crazy. I really like everything that Nintendo is doing."

Newell, a former Microsoft employee, became a millionaire after working 13 years for the software giant. He used the money to fund Valve Software with Mike Harrington, another former Microsoft employee.

The company released their first product, Half-Life, in 1998. A year after, they released the Team Fortress Classic mod, a port of the original Team Fortress Quake mod. Since then, the company hired Minh "gooseman" Le and Jess Cliffe, the creators of Counter-Strike, in order to acquire the team-based, tactical first-person shooter series, which also was released on the Xbox in 2004.
