I didn't like it either, but I know a good publication when I see one. Nothing compares to SI. And eventually you just have to let go.
There is no way Steve Blake is worst player in the league. That title has to go to Adonal Foyle. He's gonna splinter the backboard one of these days with a 12 footer. Absolutely horrible.
The thing is...Manu isn't playing 40 minutes per game. You say "Ginobili's had to do it in 27.5 minutes per game," but doesn't that just show that the Spurs in fact don't need to rely on Manu to carry the team - that possibly he's just another role player. The fact is...if Manu was injured, the Spurs would be fine. If T-Mac was injured right now, the Rockets would not be fine.
Vescey, that's me also. however, Kelly is giving the Rockets the fair respect and coverage they deserve. So at least he's not a NY biased punk like SI was back in the day.

I wouldn't use that chance. I'd take my talent to one of SI's competitors in hopes of helping to run them out of business. Not the writers, but their organization. The quality of written media would improve for me on the whole as a result. So, nothing against KellyDwyer or the website, I just don't click the links. I read KD's columns copied and pasted over here and I definitely enjoy them, but I won't feed any more money to the beast.
you cant put that philosophy on every person or organization. The most evil corporation ever, ENRON.. I knew some people that worked there, they were good people.
It's not just you. I won't touch it (the magazine) and my mom hasn't sold it in her store since the incident. I remember helping her out at the store when I was little asking people to sign some petition and or some complaint letter. People were pissed.
Since Yao went down, McGrady is a top 10 player, no ifs or buts about it (IMO, of course). I don't think it should just be based on personal stats (even though McGrady did well there too), but one should also factor winning games into the formula...in fact, that probably should be the #1 criteria. Wade and Kobe are great players, but with the 'other' star player on their teams injured, the Lakers and Heat haven't done as well as the Rockets have...and the Heat are in the Leastern Conference. Furthermore, when you factor in how Denver has fared with Iverson leading the way, I think that distinguishes McGrady and his Rockets even more. My personal ranking would at least place McGrady ahead of Brand, Boozer and D.Howard...but that's just me.
Based on your recommendation and the cred you have here, I'll start checking the site out regularly. Back when I was much younger (way before the internet), SI was THE sports magazine. I literally used to read every issue cover to cover.
I'll take Gilbert Arenas over Dwayne Wade any day. He's the Black Manu Ginobili, conning the refs into an unbelievable amount of anticipation fouls. You get the expected "well he drives to the basket more than any player in the league" excuse, but 40 free throws in his first two games back? Unreal. One of my Fav Fives
