"...to impress favorably; charm; enamor: He was smitten by her charms."

I always thought this was the usual way the word was used, although certainly "to smite" someone is to strike them. What happened to you? Were you smitten, like the definition I used, or did someone smite you?

(I've been smitten before. It's grand!)

    Pole,

heyschweetie is awesome. but she's a houston, montrose, cosmo girl who wanted to move to Europe and not have kids. I still love her, but....

last night was my first "real" date since heyschweetie made her point.

man, I am so out of practice it is pathetic....

but I do still remember some things. I just didn't know what "smitten" really means...learn sumpin knew every day.

congrats on your smitteness....or is it smittenhood?

as an aside, wanted to tell you that my wife went into your friends shop (The Amish Craftsman), and we ended up spending way too much money! Quartersawn oak bed, and a dresser.

I applaud you reading the dictionary last night and am happy you found a new word. I am not sure why you were only able to do this after heyschweetie went away. She hated books?

Regardless, sorry to hear about heyschweetie.

In the first days, scientists call it smitten-dumb. I had it for awhile after my divorce...

It was with great might and much fervor that your son did smite the 37" LCD TV with the Wii remote.

that's so cool. Did you tell Kimberley I sent ya? maybe she'll give me a discount...lol

she is so awesome...i can't imagine how she took the plunge like that. the rent there is enormous. she's is stressed out yet really happy at the same time.

I'm glad you found something to buy. For me, that place is dangerous. I want things that are like 10 grand. sigh.

    maybe maybe no

yeah, it is so sad....thx rimbaud. I just talked to heyschweetie today for the anniversary of our Mollie dog passing. Marathon day. That's a whole story unto itself.

but you are right..heys loved books....i'm the lesdyxic one.

so, the smitten girl is a milf. it is so freaking complicated to date a milf with an 18 mo old. I mean...date is on, except we have to wait for the babysitters' confirmation....

damn...it took 4 days for that...and I'm sitting there saying...should I buy they tickets or what? when is this babysitter going to confirm... so freaking complicated.

but her girl fell asleep on my shoulder in under 5 minutes at a NY's eve kid friendly party. that is where i scored my points with her and her gfs. It is about time my uncle skills are paying off...my dog is useless. dogs are supposed to be chick magnets right...my dog is not delivering...i had to do this on my own.

bottomline: the whole milf market seems promising. maybe that is another thread

    Personally, I love the word.

Sadly, I used it on a girl back in March, and she's still figuring it out. Not that she's dumb. She's just a schizo. Not sure why I still like her...

That said, I think it's still a good word to use on someone, especially if you truly feel that way. It's much better than saying "I have a crush on you", even though it technically is synonymous.
