Don't mean to hijack what macfan does for us after after every game with the post-game quotes, but thought I would post -- word for word -- the post-game interview conducted by ESPN's Jim Grey with our very own Batman...errr...Shane Battier.

JG: Shane, why were the Rockets able to execute so well down the stretch?

SB: Well, we hung around, hung around the whole game, it wasn't pretty. We didn't have a lot of energy tonight, and I thought the Nuggets lulled us to sleep a little bit here, but down the stretch, we got #1, Tracy McGrady...making plays is pretty easy.

JG: (sarcastically) Were you the first option on the 3 pointer you made to win this game?

SB: (laughing) I think I am the sixth option on every play out there, but I was wide open and Mac does such a great job of seeing the floor, he saw me, I caught it in rhythm and knocked it down.

JG: Your coach told us before the game that you can not evaluate Shane Battier -- you -- on the stat sheet. That people around the league look at this and it doesn't paint a true picture..well tonight, it painted a true picture, but what do you do to keep your team involved in the game and seemingly take yourself away from the forefront?

SB: This is all about winning games, and that's been my M.O. my entire career. I am going to do whatever it takes to help this team win games, make it back to the playoffs and play at a high level, and if that's diving for loose balls, hitting the three point shots, defending the toughest player, I am gonna do it.

JG: Shane, why has this team done so well without Yao, because seemingly that piece of the puzzle seems to be needed as opposed to being so excellent without it?

SB: Well, we definitely miss the big fella. But I think this team has a lot of character and we believe in each other. We believe in the coaches, and as long as you do that in this league, you're gonna give yourself a shot to win every night.

JG: Nice to have the sixth option, thanks for joining us.

    SB: Alright, thanks Jim.

I hope Rafer can keep on improving his shooting since the old ball is back.

Let me add a couple of more gems from the postgame segment on ESPNEWS...

Jon Barry -- trying to take yet another dig at Walton's silly assertion during the telecast that Phoenix are a "better" defensive team than the Rockets -- made the following comment: "I think if they (the Rockets) can defend more like Phoenix, I like their chances to be a 5 or 6 seed."

Then, Tirico proceeds to ask both guys -- JB first -- about their picks for the NFL playoffs...JB says he likes the two home teams winning; Walton says, "How about my San Diego Rockets"!! At that point, myself and JB were just ROFLOAO...just classic Bill Walton. :D

On the air last season, Walton mentioned that he was a good dancer. My wife and I just looked at each other dumbfounded. We saw him at a Springsteen concert in LA and no ... he danced as well as you would expect. Like a train wreck, you just couldn't stop watching him.

anyone with two fused ankles (and i'm not sure if he ever had knee or back problems too) can't be a good dancer.

i'm sure he must look like a stoned frankenstein on the dance floor!
