Bonzi is a great playoff fit for us and I am willing to give him a lot of benefit of doubt, as a fan and armchair coach....BUT, we need to be careful here....let's first review what sort of wild card mentality were are dealing with... We are dealing with a guy who did not spend any time in the offseason shaping up for the season because he could not lock a contract up. So, now he is injured again (hamstring and back injuries like his are signs are being out of shape) and is still not in shape 3 months into the season...I know the fear of injury without a contract was there...but come on, stay in some civilian shape at least...don't let yourself go to mush... So, securing a Defensively-oriented PG and Big man are great goals...Having Bonzi is a nice tool to have for the playoffs, but so is a competent Big Man..
The only piece we need out of Detroit is CHAUNCEY BILLUPS, they can take Bonzi and Sura and maybe some money for him would be great.
I said or. English isn't my first language, but if i'm not mistaking that means bonzi for one of them. Not Bonzi for their three best players. Anyway my whole point was don't trade, because the pistons aren't gonna trade wallace, hamilton or billups. Anyway your first line made me smile.
I know the Laker hatred that run this board, but by the looks of it, some people are more obsessed with making Piston the Challenger again than making Rockets better. Nazr, Davis, and to lesser extent Dice are all marginal players, who are hardly going make any difference in the playoff. Bonzi has a lot of issues. But he is a X-factor here, and you know, playoffs are often decided by these X-factors. In any case, if we do get through the tough Western Conference, than we may have to play Pistons in the final. I am somewhat lukewarm on trading with our rivals. If anything this team needs a good guard. Somebody like Bibby could make all the difference. If Bonzi is indeed an invaluable trading pieces, I would rather look to strenghten our needs, and not content for getting a marginal fodder who are good for 6 fouls, and odd board or two.
I thought you were advocating we only trade Bonzi for one of those players, which would never happen because he's not worth that much. He is valuable to the Rockets, but if he's having problems with the coaching staff then his value goes down here and around the league. Somebody will definetely take him, but if they know he's on bad terms here then they'll offer less than what he's worth. Perhaps you aren't krazy afterall.
Bonzi and Sura for Mcdyess and Maxiell. Let's face it, Bonzi can be a force when he wants to be, like in the playoffs. The guy almost single handedly dominated the Spurs last year. We need a PF thats a vet(cause jeff ain't gonna play no rookie) and Maxiell to give us something in the future. Actually Maxiell and Bonzi have similar styles...
Trade bonzi and sura for mo pete, so we can have better spacing than we have now. Put Battier on one corner, Mo Pete on the other and let yao and tracy work in the middle.
maybe we can offer them vspan instead of sura, since they are so into foreign guys and pick up francis as the third pg
Magic's Ariza is out for 6-8 weeks. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/spor...uries1207jan12,0,7211560.story?coll=orl-magic It's a gamble but that's one trade I'd like to see chased up. Rockets clearly struggle when Battier sits. Ariza could be a possible answer to that problem... Bonzi for Ariza Padgett for Diener TE for Garrity (carrot/salary dump)
I think bonzi will be huge for us in playoffs so no trade and by then he will be a lot more valuable!!
