Handling is what sold me the car. You actually get used to the turning radius. No big deal. Like I said, reverse, straighten it out, and park again. Spending an extra 5 seconds doing this won't kill me. Still an outstanding car. To answer your question, long wheel base is a factor, but it's all about suspension geometry. A key factor is the inside wheel turning at a greater angle then the outside wheel during tight turns. A critical factor in fwd cars with transverse mounted engines is the amount of package space available to turn the front wheels at high angles. If it makes you feel any better, the turning radius on the 6 is better than the TSX by 1.5 feet
That's really no excuse. There is a premium on parking at our company as we have been growing like crazy. She knew exactly what she was doing. Trust me when I say that she's just that kind of person. Turning radius is not a reason for getting a small car inbetween the lines. It worked, though. Since she has gotten the notice she's been a model parker.
OK, that post was enjoyable. I have never understood why people buy cars that they are afraid to park. Either you paid too much or your opinion of yourself and your car are way too high. PS - this is coming from someone whose car is cursed - it has been hit three times while parked (well within the lines) over the past 3 1/2 years. It is not big, either. Only once did I not have to pay for it (that one time was because a law student confronted the lady who hit my car - she was trying to get away - and then came to the store to page me - he was awesome).
My wife has been parking out of the way since we got a new car. I don't give a ****, honestly. I mean, I'm not going to try to **** it up, but I'm not going to live in fear that someone might ding my door.
You are my hero. I always wanted to get a POS to f'up stupid people's cars. I always want to do this in traffic/merging situations. "No buddy, I just let someone merge in front of me....you don't get to come over, too."
I agree. There's no excuse for parking like an a-hole. I don't care if your car's turning radius is 300' or 30', you should know how to park.
I know seriously, that isn't an excuse for double parking. And if that Mazda was parked like that because of it's turning radius, wouldn't it be resting more diagonally in the space instead of completely straight. She knew what she was doing; one of those people that parks just enough in the other space to prevent another car from squeezing in but not too far over so as to be seen as intentionally double parking.
