I watched the second half of the Magic game. Dwight Howard is a monster. The difference between him and Amare is that he shuts down the paint. The Magic are second best defensive team behind Rox
Dwight will be a great center in this league, I think everyone knows it's just a matter of time. I honestly think we're entering another era of dominant centers in this league, there is a very promising crop of young big men out there, they're just too young to be noticed as of yet, but their time will come.
I wonder how T-Mac feels? If he didn't demand to be traded he could've been on that Orlando squad. We would've been stuck with SF
The crazy thing is the Magic basically gave Tmac away. Cuttino had an expiring contract. Steve was traded for Trevor Ariza. The thing is the Magic would have ALL (except Ariza) their current players plus Tmac. That would be a great team Jameer Nelson/Carlos Arroyo/JJ Reddick Tracy McGrady/Keyon Dooling/Keith Bogans Grant Hill/Hedo Turkoglu Darko Milicic/Tony Battie/Pat Garrity Dwight Howard/Darko Milicic
Can't wait for Pryuen to chime in.. "Whaddid he say??! Whaddid he SAY?!?! Was dat 'bout Yaoming??!!" - pryuen
i'll start it. dwight howard's career high in points is only 3 more than what yao was averaging before he got hurt. discuss.
i seriously doubt that the magic would haev ended up with dwight if tracy had stayed there. dwight may be a monster on the defensive boards, he can't even begin to match the arsenal yao possesses. sure if yao was more "aggressive" he would be alot better than he already is, but i would just take a bit more agile. no need to be greedy right?
Best part about Howard is that he is one of the few new big men that actually likes to play big. In an era where Garnett insists he isnt 7ft, where Dirk shoots 3's, Stoudamire has no power post moves, and Ben Wallace complains about shot attempts...
Howard is already an impact player; there ain't no "will be" to it. The center position debates SHOULD be focused on Howard and Yao; leave Shaq out of it.
I don't want to be Debbie Downer in this Dwight Howard lovefest, but it was against the Golden State Warriors. They are now starting Andris Biedrins at Center. He fades against good post defense, and his defense isn't dominating. After seeing Okafor completely dominate Howard on both ends of the court a couple of weeks ago, I saw that just handing Howard the 2nd-best center title was very premature.
Considering Dwight is the best rebounder in the NBA and is only 21 speaks volumes. At worst he will have Garnett type production meaning great defensively, very good offensive with no go to move. The best he will become is Shaq. The kid is already as good as Shaq at the same age. He just needs to work with Dream on his footwork like Shaq did.
howard is a beast, but if we want to be technical about things...mutumbo is the best rebounder in the nba...and he's 40. it's okay, he's on my fantasy team!
Dwight is the best rebounder in the league. The Rox force more missed shots than any other team in the league. So there are a ton more rebounding opportunities for Deke than Dwight. Plus, Deke is way fresher because he doesn't play as many minutes and he isn't required to do anything on offense. I love Deke, he's playing extremely inspired basketball, but he can't keep this rebounding pace up if he continues playing big minutes. Dwight gets every ball that is within 10 feet of him. A lot of times he tips them to his teammates and they don't credit him with the rebounds. Also, Dwight does not have the experience and inner fire that Deke is playing with right now. Next year, Dwight will agerage 15 rpg+ I have watched the NBA for 12 years and haven't seen anybody rebound the ball as ferociously as Dwight since Dennis Rodman
