ESPN apparently interviewed C-Webb and he says he wants to play for either the Pistons or Heat in the East, or the Lakers, Spurs, or Mavs in the West. He did say the Mavs were his least likely destination due to playing time, and ESPN says the Spurs probably wont go after him cuz they want more youth and athleticism.

I thought he might help the Rox initially, but then he said he wants to be an integral part of a championship team. With the way Deke, Juwan, and even Hayes are playing Webber wouldnt get much playing time now much less when Yao is back so I say stay away. I just hope he goes east, cuz I could see him helping the Lakers out in the triangle offense. After tonight though, who cares cuz we have shown we can play with and beat anybody right now and that is with a bunch of missing parts.

If he goes to the spurs for the vet's min, rox can offer up a te for horry. that'll also get them under the lux tax threshold.

Just announced on ESPN that the buy out will be official tomorrow.

I hope the Rockets call his agents....

I think we can offer more THIS year than the rest, right? Don't we have some of the MLE left?

As far as CWebb is concerned:

    Houston Pros:

Great Bowling, Doughnuts, Massage Parlors on 290....
    ..
    .

    Basketball Pros:
    Best D in the league
    Revitalized TMac
    Fast-Healing, young, dominant Yao
    Top record, despite our injuries
    Long lost love Howard

Thank goodness. We don't need Webber ( I still think I'm the first or second option on offense) , as the team chemistry is good and Juan is playing like he's still a fab five !

I dont know why any contending team would want to compete to sign a slow, old and problematic player such as Chris Webber. A player who despite his clearly diminished skills and physical abilities, still demands his shots, control of the ball and playing time.

While his ability to rebound and pass has not sharply deteriorated, his shooting, defense and mobility has and is easily one of the worst in the league. Just for the record here is his shooting % since hes been in Philly.

In 04-05 He shot 39% yet took 17 shots per game.
In 05-06 He shot 43% yet took 19 shots per game.
In 06-07 He shot 38% yet took 13 shots per game.

In 04-05 he avg JUST 2.3 FTA per game in 33minutes.
In 05-06 he avg 4.6 FTA per in 38 mins.
In 06-07 he avg 1.6 FTA per in 30 mins.

In Conclusion, JUST SAY NO to Cwebb!

You have to wonder how much of that is based upon his motivation, and being on a crappy team.

He would get WIDE open looks here in Houston, and he would be playing for a winner...

I think his stats will improve dramatically once he signs with a winner.

This Webber buyout could be a boon for the Rockets. Teams will either need to make a roster spot available , create salary space, or both for CWebb.

    Of the teams reportedly interested...

    Magic - TE for Diener
Knicks- Vet Min for Francis if he's waived
    Spurs - TE for Horry

    Fingers crossed.

Thank God he doesn't want to play for us. I wouldn't mind him playing for another West team cus he'll definately be a lead weight rather than an anchor. :D
