It was DaDakota who first brought this up in another thread. He of the gaming mind mentioned it but I immediately thought about it before. I think this a topic worthy of a headline because as many of you know Tom Clancy's "Rainbow Six" was an award winning pc game a couple years ago.

(for those not in the know) ...The premise is the dawn of the 21st century has arrived. A NEW enemy exists...There is war in the balkens, war in the middle east, conflicts in several hotspots around the world and the principle agent is terrorism. To combat this effectively all the nations decide to form a squad of internationally comprised fighting force. There is specialization such as: assault, recon, sniper, and demolitions. Their sole existance is to be ready to fight the problems mainly derived of terroristic action any where, any time.

Using carefully planned intelligence, the team maps out a plan to achieve a certain objective.

Great game for those not into it...(I took some frustration out with the Urban operations pack).

Furthermore, I can't help, but think that this is such a great idea and I wish such a group had existed for years.

    Several issues:

Who is in control of this group?
    The UN?

    Who picks their missions?

Command structure and language/ communications problems.

    Funding?

Nations will be reluctant to send their very best, thus defeating the purpose.

His book outlines everything in full detail. It's a pretty good idea, actually. Six nations commit their elitist of the elite to a group of terrorist fighting commandos. They're divided into two groups and can respond to situations through out the world, based in europe. It's a good read but not his best. I'll admit though, these recent events seem like something out of a Clancey novel.
