I was thinking of fiddling around and trying to do PBP coverage of Rockets games from time to time via Internet radio. I did some radio in college and wouldn't mind trying the internet version.

I wouldn't mind that, maybe you could just broadcast the TV audio from the game too :)

I always thought the NBA should have Fan broadcasting where you can cuss etc as part of their coverage.

I did PBP in college for SWTSU basketball......I do a Gene Peterson style of broadcast, I would be up for doing some of it to.....

If anyone would care to listen.

Well, the ideal solution would have someone try to pipe in the audio from 610, but that's technically illegal without their permission. I don't get 610 up in nyc though.

If enough people say they would like it, then maybe tonight i'll pick up a mike and see if I can set this up with this Shoutcast thing.

So you can freely call Yao a 'China man' on the radio?

It's not a bad idea but I hope the Rockets fans who listen to your broadcasting will not have to put up with the racist terms that you enjoy using as a price to pay.

It'll go great until someone affiliated with the NBA/Rockets finds out, like from say...reading about it on this board.

"Pictures and descriptions" says the copyright info.

thats the p2p radio app i was talking about in the chat the other day, i think its a better option(less bandwith required) than shout cast, and while we're at it, why not set up a team speak.:p

    what's a team speak?

well shoutcast is no charge...but it's more about fludity and access. Which is a better experience?

Also, how can we have two people on "air" simultaneously?

I don't think it would be a big deal since it's not a reproduction and it's only going to a small number of Rockets fans. I mean, it's really no different than the chat PBP.

I'm in Austin, and can't afford League Pass right now. I would LOVE to be able to at least listen to the games. Watching the play by play on the intrawebs is far from ideal.

by that definition, wouldnt the play by play in chat be technically illegal since it is a description of game play from tv?

I have always subscribed to the theory that as long as you dont cost the NBA profits, they will leave you alone.

    its worked so far.....but ymmv

as for the shoutcast, Id really have to wonder about the bandwidth limitations if it worked...the user amounts *could* potentially be connection-crippling.

The only way I know to be able to have two people broadcasting at the same time is to have them hooked up to the same connection.

Team speak is a voice chatting software where you can get lots of people in there together.. used a lot in online RPGs

Shoutcast isn't really reliable... I am trying to remember what we used for the Dividingline because I took it off my computer. I do know that we had a dedicated server just for the audio stream.

NewYorker if you want I can ask the team there how to set you up!
