remember when TNT did that top 50 thing last year during all star weekend. who were the players they added to the top 50....i forgot reason is b/c i was having this arguement with one of my boys and he was saying steve nash was the greatest point guard of all time (his credibility is lost to that statement b/c he is a suns fan)...but i want to argue anyways...obviously u cant only look at the last 3 years of steve nash's career over lets say (although i hate to say it) john stockton's 19 years in the league. you have to compare the whole career. i hate stockton but i gotta pick him over nash especially since the nba is mediocre compared to the 80s and 90s....but anyways he says steve nash is in the top 50 if they had to do the top 50 again. who was in the 10 that TNT added?

I'd love to see what Isiah and John Stockton could have done in a league where nobody could touch them. Nash is a great player, but no-where number one, the only two that warrant that spot are Magic and the little punk, depending on your preference, i'd take Magic because he wasn't as dirty.
Nash is only good in that system. He was nowhere near as dominate when he played for the mavs. Stockton, Zeke, Jkidd and others all had better careers than Nash.
The suns sucked before he got there. He is their system. He gets those guys so many open looks. Take him out and see how good their "system" looks.
Magic or the Big O take the top spot. The other is #2. Stock was better than Nash, and a good argument could be made for Zeke. Payton and Kidd had better overall careers than Nash.
Zeke was better at his best than Nash, but I think people tend to extrapolate his best over his entire career. I'd probably agree with Kidd, but I think that Nash is capable of doing more with less because of his superior offense. Kidd needs certain types of players. Now, he doesn't need stars - but I think that he'd do less well with Nash in a pick-up game for this reason.
Nash was pretty damn good in Dallas as well. How many MVP's has Kidd, Zeke and Stockton won? I would take Nash's career over Kidd's...maybe not Zeke and Stockton's but it is certainly worth debate.
People forget how good the other dirty punk was in his prime. Payton was a much better all-around point guard than that no-defense pretty boy in Phoenix.

i hate to dissagree with the pro, but miller has a pretty decent agrument on his side. bob lanier only scored 20 ppg too. sure he gave you 10 rebounds but if that's an advantage than all bigmen have an advantage over guards for this list. it wasn't millers job to rebound or assist. he was the scorer, the shooter. that's where he excells. 25k points vs. 20k for bob. most career 3pt made. one of the best career 3pt % and ft %. now i'm not sayign lanier doesn't deserve top 60. i think lanier, rodman, and miller deserve it. i'm not so sure abotu hawkins. my point being, you can't honestly right off reggie miller from an all time list.
I agree. Miller might have been the best shooter ever to play the game. I saw him make too many great defenders look stupid with his jab-step to deny that he was one of the all-time greats. I'm sorry Kelly, but if you think Rodman deserves to be on the list over Reggie, your Bulls fandom is getting in the way of your objectivity.
Kelly, Kelly, Kelly! Rodman? You're kidding right? He could rebound and play defense... a very good role player. When he was asked to be the second best at San Antonio he completely cratered. He was much more comfortable in Detroit as one of several reserves and in Chicago playing in the shadow of MJ and Pippen (while still doing silly stuff to draw attention to himself). Anyone on the Top 50 +10 ought to be able to lead a team and not shrink from the responsibility. I never thought Pippen belonged because he couldn't handle being the guy on a team (see the Knicks series when MJ is not there), but at least you could make an argument... Rodman is not even close... If he's your best player, you are not winning anything and if he is your leader, your team is probably en route to destruction that would rival the Clippers of yore. If he's a Top 60 guy, then why not Horry or Michael Cooper or any role player who contributed to several championships? Rodman as a Top 60? Preposterous. Say what you want about Miller, but he's taking the pressure shot... he's not going to be sitting on the bench with his shoes off in the 4th quarter of a playoff game.
