Do they get Orlando's this year? It doesn't look like they'll get Detroit's this year as they might be lottery bound, but they have to give the Rocks a pick in the next 3 drafts. I'm hoping the Pistons hold out hope each year that they will make the playoffs the next year and keep their picks in the lottery until they have to give us the pick in 2001-2002 and that they suck that year. The Rockets can be the Spurs all over again and be a good team with a high pick then go on to win the title with Francis leading the charge.

I am NOT trying to pick a fight here but ...

I sure do not find any pride on comparing us to the 1998-99 Spurs. We took a relatively inexperienced but gutsy team to the big dance on several occasions and won it twice the "real old fashioned way". We earned it with hard work. Not by losing to win lottery places.

Sorry, I cannot find any honor in that method.

there is no way for us to know at this point, if anything happens, it will probably happen on draft day.

Odds are I expect the rockets to have two picks this year.

    Magic:
They should give the rocks their pick because they have a young team and may be forced to cut a player that is still developing.

They shouldn't give the rocks their pick because they are a young team that should get better. Each year their pick should be higher.

    Detroit:
The rockets will probably get their pick since they will probably be in the playoffs or just out of them. It is fourth and 1 at their own twenty. They should punt.

They won't give it to the rockets since they believe a aprticular player will slide to their spot that can get them that yard.

    Popeye,

Soonerockstro never mentions losing on purpose. The rockets traded for a draft pick, I see no dishonor in hoping it is a good pick. He was mentioning the fact that one great draft pick can lead a team to the championships, even if the team is full of losers like the spurs. Elie, Duncan, J Jackson, Porter, and walker are not to be included since they are recent additions.

    Popeye,

Your argument would have merit, if the Rockets did not TANK on purpose to get Hakeem.

Not the best method, but sometimes it does work.

Uh Popeye, did I say the Rocks should tank the season. No! I don't know where you got that from my statements. Thanks for clearing that up JoeJoe.

shouldn't we get the pistons' pick? I would think that if hill leaves this year then they're definitely lotto bound the following years, so detroit mgmt. would take that into consideration (during the gamble time between the draft and their potential resigning of hill)
