I've always been one to dismiss the apocoliptic doomsday mumbo juhumbo that's been flowing over the last 10 or so years. But these events are kind of spooky. This has all the makings of 'the' 3rd World War, a war that is supposed to be fought in the streets and like no other war before. You can find several inferences in Nostradamus' translated predictions. Also the Biblical predictions for the 'end of times'. Not that I've put much substance to the whole 'doomsday' thing, but I'd hate to think that the 3rd World War is started by some radical who induces us into a religious war with people who have been raised to hate us since birth. I hope this is just another incident in history and not 'THE' incident. I know we've lost lives and we hurt but it's not worth the end.

    ok. I'm babbling. later.

I myself am a Christian, yet everytime I hear about all this "doomsday" talk, I just get so nervous. I don't know why. Do any of you get nervous like I do?

I dont remember the *exact* wordings, but isn't there a reference in Nostrodomos' writings about "twin pillars or towers" being brought down? I remember hearing about this but haven't had the time to research it since I just got home and need to get to bed after that mammoth 10 page thread I just read..

And also, I believe there is a reference in Revelations about Doomsday being brought on by a big conflict in the Middle East?

    Scary thought folks... :(

    btw...my sig was a knee-jerk reaction...
I forgot to change it before posting.

The Nostradamus reference is a hoax. There is nothing in his published "Centuries" which mentions two towers. There is nothing that he wrote that describes this attack. For a full reading of "Centuries" go here:

Here is what you might be referring to:

    Century 1, Quatrain 87

"Earthshaking fire from the center of the Earth
Will cause the towers around the New City to shake:
Two great rocks will war for a long time,
And then Arethusa shall color a new river red."

Center of the Earth..........the Middle East?
    New City..........................New York?

I find this one more interesting:

    Century 6, Quatrain 97

"The sky will burn at forty-five degrees latitude,
Fire approaches the great new city,
Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up
When they want to have verification from the Normans."

New York lies between 40-45 degrees latitude.
The Normans is a reference to the French......we've been gathering allies and France, of course, is one of those allies.

I normally don't read too much into Nostradamus, and this situation is not playing out exactly how he predicted, but he did refer to the US as "the Eagle" and "the Noble Eagle".

The US military response has, it has just been reported, been named Operation Noble Eagle.

    It definitely makes one wonder...

There was an article in today's Tennessean that talks about Nostradamus and a professor from, I think, Vanderbilt. I didn't even read it; my mother was telling me about it. The reason why I didn't read it was that I don't get into the Nostradamus predictions. I find it sad that there are people out there who would conceive a hoax about the "twin brothers" that was written in 1654, nearly 100 years after Nostro died! I guess being psychic and everything he was able to come back from the dead and make more predictions! If you have ever read his predicitions, you will see that he makes countless predictions but makes them vague as hell. It's like he took a lot of generalities and based it on things that already had happened. Making it vague was smart on his part because he knew people would interpret his predictions the way they wanted to. It's like when you're a little kid and you firmly believe in something but yet somebody shows you that it isn't true. A lot of kids will still believe in their mind that they are right even though it was shown to them and proven wrong.

Anyway, this professor did make a good point--one that I had never thought about before. He said that maybe some people read Nostro's predictions and then they go out and enact them. That is pretty sad and sick that people would do that, but I thought it was an interesting theory.

Good point. When I was 14, my friends tried to tell me wrestling was fake. They told me that the wrestlers cut themselves with razor blades and that when wrestlers stomp their foot while they punched, it added affect.

    FWIW

We had dinner with some friends last Saturday who are longtime followers of Avatar Meher Baba. They told us that big changes were supposed to occur in the world, since one of his main disciples (mandali) passed-away (i.e. 'dropped his body') earlier this month.

Nearly every generation has felt it was living in the last days. Evil has always existed...one day it will not. But the end will come "like a thief in the night." No use worrying about it, fellas. You could die in a car accident tomorrow, too. Life is fragile...it was even before Tuesday morning. Don't waste it worrying.

"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" - Matthew 6:27

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34

Correct. I think when/if it happens, we won't know what hit us. There is nothing I could do about the end, so why worry?

If you believe in eternal life, there is no 'end'.

Boy that was a real toughie to figure out.

And about that Noble Eagle thing, if Nosti really did say something about the Noble Eagle in relation to us, then either our leaders decided to name this operation (has the name really been confirmed) because of it, or that's just some freaky ****.

I certainly hope there's something better than this. Don't get me wrong, I love my life, but things get way too complicated.

    Just a couple of items:

    1) Nostradamus did indeed refer to the US as "the Eagle" and "the Noble Eagle". You have to remember that the US didn't exist back then, and he had no name for us. Apparently, precognition doesn't give names, it gives images and contexts, if you believe that sort of thing. I think it's possible that our leaders knew this, but highly unlikely that they'd name a military operation after it. HIGHLY unlikely, since all USM operations are typically named randomly, so as to give the enemy no possible chance to associate the code name with any given specific action (for example, naval operations usually never include the words "sea" or "blue", and ground operations never include the words "man" or "green" - unless by chance; these code word combinations are chosen from a randomly generated list of words).

    Freaky, no doubt.

    2) In Revelations the final battle is between the forces of "Gog and Magog". Gog has been interpreted as an Israeli general, who is supposed to be the force of Satan. Magog has never been defined adequately, other than it is supposed to represent God's force. Both are supposed to come from "East of Jordan", which makes no sense, unless you think that Bin Laden is acting in God's interests.

Most of Revelations makes absolutely no sense, which is why I personally discount all of it. It's ancient sci-fi.

treeman -- many believe revelations is about events that have already passed. 666 is actually some code for Nero, the Roman Emperor who enjoyed watching Christians die awful deaths. I have heard a number of takes on it. In the end, I really don't spend too much time on it. I may live through something quite awful in my lifetime...these may or may not be the end days....there's nothing I can do to alter it.
