I'm not that big a fan of the WWF today, I haven't been a WWF fan since 1993, and I haven't been a true wrestling fan since 1999, but that was a real tear jerker, I agree. That almost had me in tears, the wrestlers were practically in tears. This is so sad.
Vince McMahon gave an awesome speech. Then all of the wrestlers came out and the ring announcer sang the Star Spangled Banner. I know most of you don't respect wrestlers, but they're Americans as well. Throughout the show, they have been giving individual tributes to the victims and basically expressing how they feel about this.
WOW! I'm getting this on tape delay--McMahon's speech was GREAT. And did you know this happened at the Compaq Center?
The ring announcer, Lillian Garcia has a beautiful voice. She talked about how someone in her family, she didn't say who, had business meeting at the WTC at 8:30 in the morning on Tuesday and decided not to go. Eerie stuff. I know Boomer Esiason has a charity on the 101st floor and was supposed to go, but did a Monday football game between the Broncos and Giants. If the Giants had a home game he would be dead, no question. The WWF tonight was awesome. That was the best WWF event I've seen since 1991.
I was at the event. Was truly a great show. Edge said it best. He said that they will try to entertain us with their best of their abilities and make us forget bout the issues just for a moment. Well, everybody did just that. Everybody cheered their hearts out for each and every member of the federation for entertaining us during this time of regrouping. Attending the show made me not think bout the events for a bit. When each member of the organization had their thoughts of the events, it made me more angry. Bradshaw and Tazz's comments had the biggest pops from the crowd. The sports world can take a lesson out of this, if yall resume anytime soon, not all but some citizens can talk bout something else other than terrorism.
Just wanna pass along, the WWF website posted up all of the videos of over 30 people from the organization on their thoughts of the events. The best ones to see is Vince McMahon, Edge, Ivory, Bradshow, Tazz, and the National Anthem with all the wrestlers and personnel on the ramp. Again, this night was not to be forgotten as a fan that attended the event. http://www.wwfecorpbiz.com/tribute.html
They put on a good show/tribute. At first I was a little suprised they performed, but another WWF show was also aired after the Owen Hart incident at a PPV event.
