If Grammatica makes any kind of decent block at all on Babineaux, then Romo gets the first down, if not the touchdown. Damn fru-fru kickers.
The play at the end may have been the nail in the coffin...but this was a total offensive team failure. I mean...Witten fumbles a pass reception. He never fumbles. Glenn fumbles inside our own five. He never fumbles, either. So, right there, you have two fumbles by guys that probably hadn't fumbled all year long. Romo played a poor game overall with low passes and bad decisions. Dallas deserved to lose this. I don't think Seattle really deserved to win this game. This game was a gift from Dallas to Seattle basically. TO says Romo is crying his heart out in the locker room. I hope he doesn't turn suicidal. That's a big burden to shoulder.
I hope Romo doesn't turn into that Ace Ventura Ray Finkle situation. Seriously, it sucks to be him right now. I would want to crawl into a hole or something.
Coaches can't challenge in the last 2 minutes. Only the booth can call for one. Also, they ruled him down at the 2. The first down was the 1.
Dude... they had a FG to WIN IT from the 2 yard line. Your scenario would not have put them in a better position... they had the easiest shot to win, and blew it.
No joke. That is a really bad situation to be in. That's when you really need support of teammates and coaches.
What a yoyo season for the Cowboys. From preseason Super Bowl contender to losing the Redskins game (one of the weirdest endings in NFL history), bouncing back and winning 4 in a row, to getting smoked by the Saints and Eagles to losing a playoff game like this. I have very little sympathy for their team and obnoxious fans. I like Holmgren and think he's a great coach. Hope Romo gets over it because that's a really tough thing to happen.
maybe you run it in, maybe you don't. i think the thought is that if you can avoid running anymore plays (as much as anything can happen on a fg, a fumble or botched handoff can happen just as easily on a run), run out all of the clock (instead of giving seattle over a minute to drive down the field if you score), and try to win the game on what is essentially an extra point, that's how you play it.
Wow, that just made my football season. To see Romo choke and a Cowgirls sure playoff win go up in flames. I think this loss would hurt worse than Buffalo did. THANKS ROMO!!!!
breaking news out of dallas... Carrie Underwood has just broken up with Tony Homo for his horrible performance against the Seattle Seahawks. What's even worse is that pop singer extraordinare Jessica Simpson has opted to not take Homo back - she has rather started going out on a non-monogamous relationship with King of 40 Acres- the biggest baller EVER! BALLIN'!!
I get all that... but at no point did they ever say "pending this FG make", "they still have to hit the FG", etc. They never even mentioned a FG miss as a possibility... more like it was a formality (which I know it probably was... given that it was CLOSER than an extra point). They pretty much were wondering if Dallas should go for the TD or not, and then once they didn't get the 1st down, first Michaels went on for 2 minutes about how he was shocked they reversed that call (it was a horrible spot to begin with), and then they went right to discussing what Seattle had to do to get into FG range. I would have just been a little less assuming, given that they're the "best" announcers in footall, and they know that crazy stuff always happens in the playoffs.
I disagree, the defense was doing fine up until then and it wasn't unreasonable to ask them to hold the Seattle offense again. Also, Romo wasn't exactly stellar in that game so I wasn't going to trust him to lead a game winning drive Also, WTF was with that pooch kick after the safety to give Seattle the ball at the 50. That was the unspoken stupid move of the game because Seattle had tons of field to work with and an easy drive. But I'm not complaining.
Its a free kick after a safety... you're not allowed to use a tee, thus they had the punter kick it (like he was supposed to). He also has to kick it from the 20 (instead of the 30). Seattle was going to get good field position regardless.
Wow, I was way off on the Colts. I had no idea their run defense was gonna step up like that. But if they play that same game against most other teams in the playoffs, they'll be missing the Super Bowl again. How Peyton becomes a completely different player in the playoffs escapes me. 3 interceptions yesterday. They struggled to find the end zone. One of the more boring playoff games I can remember.
It all goes back to why the "safety" rule was originally put in place... to allow teams to not make a mistake deep in the opponent team's territory that could lead to 7 points (thus, you give up 2 points in exchange for a chance to "punt" it from the 20). It benefits college teams more than pro teams... since college teams actually use the safety as it strategically should be used. In the pros, if you give up a safety, you're really at a huge disadvantage.
