i clearly don't have any help for you at this moment, I have at least a few suggestions...

    1) Same friend that installed windows on your laptop? Punch him in the face for installing a blind/skin.
    2) Pick that friend up off the ground, help him stand up, then kick him square in the nuts.
    3) Pick him up again, promise not to kick him if he fixes your PC.
    4) Once he's fixed your problem, kick him in the nuts again.

    You don't mess with a man's pr0n machine.

And now I hardwired it and it works perfect. So I think its definitely something to do with the wireless card.

For the skin you can try the following:
Right click somewhere on your desktop (in any blank space)
    Click on Properties
In the Theme section select Windows XP and click OK.
Maybe that will take the Apple skin off

About your wireless card. Is this computer a laptop or a desktop?
    Who is the manufacturer?
Depending on who the manufacturer is I would visit the support website and look for updated drivers.

I would also make sure that Windows is controlling your WIFI settings and not the Atheros utility. To check that go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > double click on your wireless connection and somewhere over there (dont recall which section) there is an option that you can check/uncheck that says that Windows should manage the settings. Just make sure its checked.

You also need to check that Wireless Zero Config service is running.

I have a 24x7 Online tech support service that I provide. I can let you chat with a tech for free to get this problem resolved. They can just access your computer remotely and check all the setting. Much easier for you and I. Just get in touch with me through my site (see my signature)
