TB-Cain On KJ's dunk. I think Hakeem had blocked KJ and Barkley in the two preceeding plays to the dunk. Could be wrong though.
The two greatest blocks I've seen in a Rockets game are by Hakeem. The first one has already been mentioned; the one where he turns on the turbines and catches KJ from behind to block a breakaway. The other dunk I remember as being unbelievable was Xavier McDaniel taking off from half-way between the free throw line and the basket. Hakeem was about to get dunked on. Hakeem jumps, meets McDaniel in mid-air blocks the ball with McDaniel still holding it and brings the ball AND McDaniel down. If McDaniel had been a nail, he'd be flush with the floor... he was simply driven downwards. Never seen a human being blocked like that... unreal. ------------------ Rocket fuel pumps through these veins...
Bill Russell and Dream, tough to separate them.I agree the best was the block on KJ. [This message has been edited by Hardwood Hammer (edited December 21, 1999).]
The greatest block in Rocket history has to be when Hakeem blocked Starks three pointer in Game 6. Damn! That saved our behind. I couldn't believe we might lose to the knicks. I was in shock when he took that shot, but we lived to tell about it. Go Hakeem. I honeslty believed the Rockets had the best team that year, and to the knicks credit, they played a lot better than I expected. I give them kudos for a tough series, and scaring the hell out of me for seven games. I expected a sweep that year. The year before, I also thought we were the best team until Seattle knocked us off. We could have beat Jordan that year. In the orlando year, I did not think we were the best team, but we played like it. Woo hoo!
