Per Cohen: "Looks like a bunch of chickensh*ts who voted to trade him wouldn't even man up." Oh I would trade him in a minute. He is playing adequate. He is still one of the weakest 4's in the West. Soft like Staypuff. He is not a banger which would support Yao's finesse game and he is not enforcer. We would get nothing for him. Nothing. We are obligated to pay him for 2 more seasons. No GM will want that contract. I do not want another trade like Van Gundy trading Mo Taylor for Moochie and Vin Baker- no help there..... I'm really happy with Juwan's play lately-the last month, but I am not delusional about his ability. Proud of you Juwan. __________________
The only guy I would even consider trading Juwan for is a deal for Kevin Garnett, otherwise keep him as he is a good role player on your bench.
Wow... I'm amazed at the results of this poll. If we could trade him for someone slightly younger who can board and hit a mid-range shot, and/or draft picks, and/or salary cap room, it could very well be worth it. You really have to be skeptical of how well Howard can keep this play up... I'll admit, though, I'm a bit of a Juwan-hater, so I'm a little biased.
Why are people still using this arguement? It makes no sense. Juwan is clearly one of the weakest STARTING 4's in the West, but Juwan is only starting 1/3 of our games. Although he is a weak starting 4, he is one of the best 4's COMING OFF THE BENCH, which is what he's doing 2/3's of the time.
Juwan is playing well- but I would not think twice about getting an upgrade at PF- that is the spot that will cost us the closer games. It is NOT important how much he scores- IT is the differential stupid! Sadly we have to fill the hole through a draft or discover some stunning nobody. We are benchmarking the Old Juwan with the "NEW Look" Juwan- the content was the same the packaging is different. If he shows up against Utah and neutralizes Boozer- that would be something to benchmark against.
Man- you dissappoint me. You make a lot of arguments based on facts. Vocal leadership is wonderful. But the bottomline is the Differential. Even with the "new and Improved" Juwan, we have a serious problem with PF spot. Juwan and Yao do not work well- I think I recall you saying that not so long ago.
I would be real upset if JVG keeps Juwan in the same lineup with Yao. I think Hayes has better defensive chemistry with Yao on the frontline.
You are making the point- if he is good, we should rather be starting for the kind of money we are paying at that spot. Chcuk Hayes was put in there because he hustles for those rebounds better and complements Yao- not that Chuck Hayes is starting material.
I like what Chuck brings defensively more than Juwan, particularly when Yao is on the court. Quickness becomes more important than size. I think it would make more sense bringing Juwan off the bench if Yao and McGrady on starting.
Keep him. My only beef with him is his salary, and all we needed was a backup center that could grab rebounds and block shots, and right now Mutombo is playing out his mind. He gives us a fairly decent post presence and an adequate mid-range shot.
I'd trade anybody on the roster for the right price - including Yao. Of course, the right price for Yao would have to be some sort of Lebron James/Dwight Howard package recieved in a three or more team deal. Seriously though, aside from Yao, I see no reason not to entertain offers on anybody. A good GM is always trying to move forward. Especially when we're still behind several teams in the West talent wise. If the deal is right, you take it. Doesn't matter who it is.
I prefer chicken salad, thankyouverymuch. I believe that JuHo will never be as tradable again as he is today until his contract is expiring. The man is manning up, so swap while up is up IMHO.
A Stat line of 15 points and 10 rebounds for the past 5 games is great production. But if you start with the Clippers game ( where Yao had the terrible injury)- Here are PF's Juwan went up against ( and had considerable minutes) Brand, Mikki More, Al Harrington (??), Shelden Williams, Pau and Chris Wilcox. ( Some players may be deemed not be PF's) If you are not suggesting Mikki More or the Rookie Williams are the kind of PF's we will face in Play off's, then the real facts come out. Brand and Al Harrington, Pau are the caliber we should be measuring against. No doubt the 'Crater' at the PF is now a 'hole"- but it is still a hole! The show against Boozer will be worth watching.
He's been playing well, but needs an increased role to be this effective. When Yao returns, Juwan will be back to his regular 5 point, 5 rebounds, 0 steal, 0 blocks type of production. If we had other attractive trading pieces, I'd like to hold on to him, but with his contract it's best to move him while his stock is as high as it will likely ever be from now until he retires.
With Yao out, JHo is the best fit, but Hayes is still the nest PF on this team. That's a problem since Hayes is being held back by his fouls. I don't see it getting any better in the playoffs. JHo + Sura for PJ Brown in a heartbeat.
yes, for a better PF... JHo and Hayes are both good backups, but I doubt we could get anything good for Hayes.... so yeah... if we can package him with someone else for the right deal, we should do it while his stock is up....
it is a little difficult to discuss a jho trade without saying who we would get in return. of course i would trade him if the price was right but what price are we talking about? i honestly think any team that is interested in trading for juwan would not be sending us another big. most likely they would be trying to add to their front line and post scoring. say they were willing to send a big, then it would likely be a defensive/rebounding specialist be we already have deke and hayes for that. although his salary is a little high for what he produces, its definitely not as bad as the majority of overpaid big men in the league. i think we should appreciate what he is giving the team at the moment and try not to mess up team chemistry.
