I have a pretty good ratio on oink R: 4.965 U: 5.26 GB D: 1.06 GB I uploaded a comedy album and that helped a lot.
Hello. I'd really appreciate an invite. I have very good upload speed on my connection and leave my computer on constantly. So I'll be sure to keep my ratio well above average. Thanks again Drew.
If there are any invites left, I'd really appreciate one. I leave my computer on regularly, so keeping my ratio up shouldn't be a problem. rizzyg6@gmail.com Thanks.
I'd appreciate an invite... I'm connected almost all day and have tons of music and videos to share email: slayer700506@gmail.com Thanks guys
Invite sent. Rizzy, if you don't receive one in the next few days I'll get you one as soon as I get another invite. Should be pretty soon.
Oomp, I signed up for Oink but haven't had time to mess with it yet. I've got to configure the port since I have a router and I just had to break about 5000 songs out of their artist folders to get Media player to recognize them so I could get them onto my new Creative Zen. I'm going through each one and updating the album information and customizing the genre's so I've still got a lot of work before I'm ready for new music, that plus I'm going on a Blues Cruise next week. So, two things: Am I hurting your rep on Oink by being idle...if so I'll get on it. Two, It looks to me like I have to prep every song for bit torrent, especially since I now have 5000 in one folder, or if I send that folder to Azureus will it put the songs in some recognizable order: or would it just look like one huuuuge file to other Oink users?
No. It won't hurt me unless you dl 5 gig and don't up any. Search around on it, there is a lot of really good blues on there. Search the stuff you have on there. Odds are many of the albums you have might have already been posted. + you don't need to up stuff to get a good share ratio (but it helps). If you dl a torrent that other people want, you'll be sharing with others while you dl. That's how I got mine up - I have a George Carlin audiobook with a 400% share. I wouldn't worry about sorting your stuff 5 gig is more than enough to get started.
You have to divide up the stuff you want to share into albums. That's how the site works. Bit torrent is much more effective for larger files, so you're not going to put an entire collection into the pool for people to pick and choose. Basically if you want to upload something, check your stuff to see if you have a particular album that isn't on the site, put it into it's own folder. Follow the instructions for "uploading a torrent" and put it up on the site. Of course you don't need to upload a torrent in order to use the site. You can build an acceptable ratio by just downloading stuff and making sure to continue uploading when you're done. Just look for stuff that are popular and download them with "force downloading". That means that it'll keep that torrent open until you manually stop it. Just turn on your torrent client every time you go online and eventually you should make up the ratio.
All this talk is really making me want to check this place out. So if anybody has a spare Oinkvite, I'd be appreciative if you could send one my way. I've got nothing to offer, though, except a high-speed upload connection. harland3@gmail.com Oh yeah, anybody still need one from Demonoid?
I can't figure something out re: iTunes. Most of my downloads play fine in iTunes. Others open in VLC media player. I'll go to "open with iTunes," and iTunes will open, but the damn song won't play. It won't ever appear in the playlist. I've tried importing via iTunes, but that doesn't work either. What gives?
