So, he steals Stan's job, then decides he doesn't really want it, now that his team has no chance to win it this year.

    LOL - wow !

He is having surgery on his hip and knee. I don't think he is quitting on his team.

I would be interested to know as to why he waited until mid-season to do the surgery.

He's been taking "how to schedule your surgeries" classes from Shaq.

Yeah, how convenient. Heat doesn’t have a chance to win a championship this year. They might just barely make the playoffs in the weak EC. So Riley decides to take a vacation and have a surgery during the season. That jackass!

Please Stan, don't take that coach job in Miami. Come to Houston. I think you are a better coach than your brother.

Both conditions were present during the Finals. He had all summer.

    He's a gutless coward.

Riley would have taken it in the summer after just winning their NBA championship if it was neccessary. It's gotten worse.

He's a rat and he will always be a rat and that was before he got to maimi. What he did to SVG was a crying shame. I don't buy this excuse that he has no choice to have those surguries now. I guess Riley will have to find some other sucker to build the team back up to championship form and then he'll slip in right after the new coach decides he wants to spend more time with his family.

I guess losing makes the hip hurt worse. Watch the recovery time fluctuate with the team's record.

Wow! Riles has always been very hard on his players, from the Lakers to the Knicks to the Heat. But I made the mistake of assuming he had mellowed some when he came back last season. He's remains the intense hard-driving taskmaster. There aren't very many coaches like that nowadays in the year 2007. The rumors of him threatening to bench Shaq last season over his conditioning were probably true.

LOL. Even though both weigh the most either of them has in their careers?

Riley was furious with the way a bunch of the vets returned from the summer. Classic "I've got my money and the ring, so who cares" syndrome. He was threatening to bench guys early on in the season.

stepped in to win another ring... then when things fall apart, he leaves. he could've at least put stan in charge until he gets back.
