Falsone is a great strength and conditioning coach. Yao has emerged as a real physical presence and it is all due to the work that Falsone has done with him. I wonder how long he will continue to work for Yao as I'm sure he is highly sought after by other NBA teams.

I am looking forward to seeing Yao get back on the court

Any news on Bonzi and when he will play?

    Great read. Thanks Py!

Here's the latest from the Rockets:

HOUSTON – Houston Rockets center Yao Ming had a follow-up visit with Rockets Team Physician Tom Clanton at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center today. The routine exam indicated that Yao’s healing process remains on schedule and his expected timeline for a return to action remains unchanged.

Pictures of Yao Ming back to Toyota Centre for his training....in the new year.

Simultaneously, the Rockets have their first team practice of the New Year in preparation of their game with the Seattle Supersonics. Lots of photos coming up in the Seattle Supersonics game thread.

hey guys i dont post much here but just had some notes on yao's condition that i thought i would pass off. My dad works for Memorial Hermann for the Ortho/Trauma department and is very close with the rockets doctors. He talked to Yao"s main physician who said yao's condition isnt serious and that he should have a full and healthy recovery and be back to the same old yao again. the fracture takes time to heal but it is non displaced and shouldnt affect his performance once healed. Yao is working hard to come back and soon should start therapy within a few weeks. anyways dont shoot the messenger just thought yall would like to know......

Thanks for the information. Now TMac is almost 100% health, if Yao can come back as 100%, Rox could have a great run for the title. The only problem is that Aston is not the point g for the run.

What I like most about Yao's injury is that it will not affect his shooting what so ever. I've always hated how 'experts' label players as 'injury prone' and a recent article in NBA.com pissed me off like hell. After knowing more about Yao's injury, I'm confident that all he has to do when the crack is gone is simply go to the gym, shoot for the next half an hour and then do his normal routines. Then of course, Yao will go on his daily routine of scaring the hell out of opposing coaches and centers.

Well, that is not possible; his knee/leg cannot load weight for another month.

What Fran Blinebury reported is at least couple of days late than Wang Meng. Yao Ming had been working with the stationary bike for the past week, already .....on his left leg and upper limbs only. Please go back a few page on this thread and read the translated article that I did.

strange that blinebury wouldn't add a detail as important as that to a chron article. I'll give meng the benefit of the doubt since Yao using both legs so soon is a little hard to believe.

Maybe he is riding the bike with both legs now. That article (single leg bike and upper body) is nearly a week old now.

I used to be a physical therapist and we did not consider riding a bike as a weight bearing exercise, especially if it is a recliner bike. Although I am not sure if he is doing it yet or not, it is possible that Yao is riding a bike with both legs cuz that doesnt put much stress on the weight bearing bone he broke.

Also it typically takes 6-8 weeks for a bone to be considered clinically healed. Hopefully it will be the short end since Yao had a small crack and it was not displaced. I am sure the Rox will make sure it is totally healed before Yao gets in game action though since obviously with his size and weight, that bone is under a lot of stress.

I would be happy if he returns for the Miami game in February. It is the first game after the all star break which gives him a couple extra days to get some conditioning back and would leave us with 30 games in the season for th team to get playoff ready. Of course I would be much happier if he returns sooner, if ready of course.

I want Yao back, even on one leg he's STILL better than 90% of the big men out there. Stop fakin' it big fella! :p

Hopefully he will be back no later than by the end of February...I think the Rockets as a whole have done a good job (better than I expected, so far) of keeping the ship afloat until Yaoza! gets back. However, I am not sure how long McGrady can keep carrying this team on that iffy back of his...he didn't look so loose earlier today, Worrell noted a couple of times that his back was stiff.

After a full week of coverage on Allen Iverson in Denver, Wang Meng was back in Houston.

Following please find his latest article on Yao Ming's recuperation.

In the article, it confirmed that Yao Ming was still working on the stationary bike with his left leg. But overall, he was healing quickly, and doing alot of other exercises.

Man, I feel so guilty after reading that, no more excuses for me now, I'm gonna start hitting the weights hard again and clean up my diet.

Yao's hard work is very inspiring, most of us often take things for granted but a good work ethic will compensate for so many of our deficiencies in life.

I have a hunch that Yao will return even MORE stronger and become more of the monster everyone envisioned. Lookout NBA :)
