Tech down 38-7 in the 3rd quarter. Tech wins 44-41 in OT in the biggest comeback in bowl history. Congrats to FFB and the Tech fans!
It was a good game. However, Graham Cracker shoudn't have been so inept in the first half. I'm not really sure I want him as our starting QB next year. That said: Sishirchang: heh heh. We had a roll in the 4th and OT!
I remember back in ancient history I used to watch every single bowl game (because there weren't 50 of them). I didn't even know this game was being played until it was over and the story came out. I was 100% focused on UofH.
All I have to say is WOW! I told my buddy that we needed a Buffalo-esque comeback to make this happen and we did. We had all of Big Woodrow's chanting RAIDER - POWER. It was beautiful! I agree with you Fatty on the QB situation. Unless Graham can improve his decision making ability and limit turnovers, I think I would rather go with Todd or Taylor Potts. But damn.... GH looked like a machine in the 2nd half. Its like he turned off his suckiness and went to work. I was a little surprised that Leach didnt pull him after his miserable 1st half.
Great Game. Congrats to Texas Tech! The Big 12 was looking horrible in the bowls before the comeback. They still don't look good, but the Big 12 does have a chance at escaping the bowl season at .500 if two of the remaining three win.
Yep it was an amazing game and my hats off to Tech. Truthfully the Gophers were lucky to get into a bowl game at all and played their hearts out to build the lead they had. That said Coach Mason couldn't maintain the lead and after this season there's been a lot of talk about firing him. They extended his contract but if the Gophers don't come out hot next year he might not be around much longer. Also big 4th quarter collapses aren't unknown to Glen Mason including one a few years ago to Michigan. Here's the Startribune article on the game. http://www.startribune.com/512/story/905216.html
Yeah that totally sucked. Most people here in MN couldn't even see the game as it was carried on the NFL Network which the main cable provider here doesn't carry. I didn't see it and was watching the MD / Purdue game for scores.
Tech does more than just beat the Gophers' football team. Glen Mason the Gophers' coach has just been fired.
It's not just the Insight Bowl collapse that got Mason fired. He never won the big games. Few years back, the Gophers blew a 21 point lead and lost to Michigan at home on national TV. That game is still fresh on the alumni and fans minds. Also, the Wisconsin game last year where the punter lost the game by turning the ball over in the endzone. The loss to Iowa at the Dome a few years ago where numerous Iowa fans stormed onto the field and took down the goal post. The visiting team's fans tearing down a goal post? That is so unheard of. Mason could not beat Michigan, Iowa, and Wisconsin which are 3 of the school's biggest rivals.
^ Good point. Mason's been on thin ice for awhile and I know a lot of Gophs alumni and fans were upset when he got the extension last year and the performanc this year, especially that ND game didn't help. I think this was the last straw. Ironically if Tech had just spanked the Gophers from the get go as most predicted Mason might've been able to keep his job. What sucks for the U though is that with Munson also getting canned the U's gotta shell out millions to pay the rest of their contracts. I heard on the news last night that Mason will still be getting paid more than Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau combined next year. It also didn't help when the AD said he was going to have to borrow some more money from the rest of the university. FYI Northstar you can change your sig now.
