Imagine how good he could have been playing if he played this hard all the time. Juwan is attacking those rebounds....and that is a first for him.....I hope he keeps it up. I think Chuck Hayes has put significant pressure on Juwan and J-Ho is responding... Now if we could get someone to put pressure on Rafer... DD
Did anyone notice Howard out-running most of the Grizzlies on every fast break opportunity last night? This guy must have found some motivation while doing that bench-sitting, because he's been playing like a man who doesn't want to see his minutes going to some unproven youngster.
Alston has alot of good qualitys.. Sometimes his shot is falling and he helps us a ton but most of the time his shot isnt falling yet he still helps. He is fery fast, and has good ballhandling skills. He trips or slips alot but thats ok.. He uses his speed and height to break to the basket alot when guys concentrate or T-Mac or Yao.. He has scored alot of points for us by doing that... even won us a game. His free throw shooting needs to improve though, the last few games.. wow has been terrible And I have ridiculed Juwanna Mann since day 1 of the trade, I admite I was a hater... I admit I wanted to get Gooden from the Magic instead of Juwanna Mann.. But when I think about it we could have really used him in the Mavs playoff series for court spacing with his mid-range jumper and this year I have said countless times Is that MOBILITY I'm seeing from Juwan Howard? WOW!!
dude used to have the worse PER/salary in the NBA. thats why we dogged on his ass so much. good to see him put some life back on the squad. if we actually had him during the mavs series 2 years back, we probably woulda made it out of there. he needs to make up his lost time then and carry the scoring load that yao gave us now. im glad we have him, but ill admit that i was an avid howard hater. but its great to have me proven wrong. go juwana man, keep bringing in double doubles for my fantasy league.
JHO had one of the worst on/off court ratings among all the rox last season. and FYI he still has one one of the worst on/off court ratings this season. Dude is a pro and all that, but to praise him as a savior is really overstretching it, conserder his salary.
Watch the games sometime. Of course his on/off court is going to be bad, because Van Gundy rarely plays him together with Yao. When Yao was healthy, Juwan's minutes came primarily when Yao was on the bench, and notice how he became a starter when Yao went down. Praise him because he's playing fantastic basketball right now. He started to become a real rebounder earlier in the season, and now he's found an offensive fountain of youth, too. Some of his spin moves last night were Bullets-era Juwan. Amazing stat: Rebounds/48 Minutes All 4 of the Rockets big men are in the top 35 in Rebound Rate. I couldn't find another team that had 3 guys within that range. Deke is tops, Chuckie is 13th, Yao is 29th, and Juwan is 32nd. Juwan is ahead of guys like Varejao and Haslem, who are considered pretty frenetic rebounders. If Shane Battier says he and the team looks to the guy for leadership, that's good enough for me at this point. When you can get Van Gundy praising the "collective heart and passion of the team", you've done something right, and I think Howard is a very large part of that.
I was anti-Juwan last year... he is a true professional and I appreciate his effort this year, but this is the chance to sell while his stock is high --if the right trade comes up
Juan is getting paid. Per Rocksmillenium: "Howard is extremely underrated and an unsung hero for the Rocks the past few years." Juwan is adequate now- he is still one of the weakest 4's in the west. I do not hate, but I will not heap on praise.....Dude is a p*ssy...
If Rockets were offered Artest or PJ Brown in a deal involing Juwan they'd have to take it. Any lesser players would be better off left nearer the trade deadline. One trade scenario (near trade deadline) I wouldn't object to would be Foster + pick for JHo and the TE(or Sura) for Jasikevicius. The Pacers are currently in luxury tax territory, this deal would get them under. Foster plays D, is a much better rebounder than Hayes, but far worse offensive player. His contract is slighly less than JHo's but the same no. of remaining years. Pacers have 4 point guards not including Daniels on their roster.
Per Earlier poster-wizkid83: "Like who? Name some one you can get at his price that can produce the same numbers." Najera, Bo Outlaw, that big ugly guy that played for Philly that Oakley b**** slapped over a gambling debt, Pig Miller, or Kevin Willis.
I saw him at the movies Saturday night (AMC 30 @ Westheimer and Dunvale). That dude is huge. Not just really tall, but HUGE. I can't imagine Yao being 8-9 inches TALLER than this man....
just wanted to chime in to say Will's post is so perfect in it's efficiency. I thank that's at least a 29.6 PER post. plus....people need to take notice of Lynus302's post. Seeing a Rocket in person doens't always have to result in a new thread. We can perfectly enjoy your Rocket anecdote in another thread. So, just imagine Lynus302....Juwan probably put on MORE weight celebrating NY's eve. I mean, I did.
I realize this complaint doesn't apply to everyone but I have to say, I get sick of how some posters on this site are so fickle. One day its, I hate JHO! The next, I love Juwan, I'm so glad he's a Rocket! One day its, we suck! Sell the Farm, throw in the towel lets try for Oden. The next you think we are contenders or a shoe in for the title. Trade T-Mac, Stupid Bonzi, T-mac's so awesome, Bonzi is a star! It's kinda pathetic actually, but I guess thats the nature of sports fans.
