    What would you rather see?

Rafer as our main point guard..35-40 min per game

Give Span a chance, 30-35 min per game, Rafer as backup

just to get some numbers...nothin else

I did not use other solution, because I am just interested in these two,

and need the numbers for statistical purposes...

please just vote for one of these two, do not include others or other ways this poll might have been constructed

    rafer...

don't really have too much hate for the guy. he has bad shooting nights, so does mcgrady. he makes bad decisions sometimes, so does vspan. just trying to say he's not as bas as people make him out to be. he does do a lot of things well i feel.

Someone not on this team presently who can bridge the gap to VSpan and then compliment him well later.

Look Rafer is a jack deluxe who doesn't do any one thing well...He won't be hard to improve on,even in the short term.

The Rockets need to trade for a point(perhaps a hybrid 1/2) that can knock down shots, handle the ball a bit,and D up immediately. With Yao out for 5 weeks we don't have the margin of error to allow Rafer to reamain. The backcourt problems must be taken care of right now.

Despite the endless potential that so many people think VSpan has, Rafer is still better than Spanoulis purely on experience on running this team. If JVG puts VSpan at the starting PG spot, we would definitely have a losing record.

Oh yeah, I noticed that both in the Spurs and Nets game, VG only put the rookies in at about the 1 minute mark, about 1:17-1:28, so I suspect that JVG, at practice, tells the rookies that if the game turns into a blowout, they will have exactly 1 minute and a couple of seconds to prove themselves in the game. Just my 2 cents.

Everybody gets a chance in practice. If Spanoulis can't crack the rotation how could he lead an NBA team through a 48 minute game?

He'll have double digit turnovers every time.

This poll needs more options. I would like to see Alston as a back-up, but VSpan is apparently not ready to be the starting PG. I would like he and Lucas to get more minutes. Maybe another player via trade.

i suggest you add a few other options like

Sanoulis for 15-20 minutes as main backup, sitting JLIII.

    start luther head at point.

He said in the OP that he just wanted to compare Rafer and V-Span. Judging from the results, sanity is leading by a wide margin. That doesn't mean people are satisfied with Rafer.

You are skewing the poll by only offering what I feel are two extremes. How about how many minutes do we feel Rafer should play? That would be telling, and then how to fill the other minutes.....

The issue is that most do not reasonably feel Billy is ready to carry the main PG role for this team and I think most believe Rafer is somewhat of an asset. It is the total LACK of playing time for Billy and the abundance of minutes Rafer is getting that have people scratching their heads. More for Billy (any would be more) and less for Rafer is what I would advocate for.

    This poll is ridiculous.

Where is the start Luther at PG and Rafer as the backup option?

Where is the Rafer starts and V-Span gets 12-18 minutes as a backup option. (the one I prefer).

Where is the Rafer starts and JL3 gets backup minutes option?

Come on, this is too black and white....in a shades of gray situation.

Spanoulis seems to be a pretty good defender and I've seen him make some pretty flashy passes, but to even pretend that he is ready to start is ridiculous. I think he's the 4th PG in the depth chart right now behind Alston, Head, and JLIII. If he gets minutes its because he deserves them, obviously to this point that has not happened. He basically played his way out of the rotation when he got minutes earlier in the year. As for Alston, he is inconsistent and does things that make you want to scream, but he is the best we have. Every PG on the Rox has glaring flaws. These are my observations, although I know they've been discussed multiple times here...

Alston - shoots too much. Can't run the pick and roll for his life.

Head - not a great ball handler, looks kind of lost as PG. Much better as an undersized 2.

JLIII - I've watched him play lass than the others, but he seems to be one of the quickest players I've ever seen. Unfortunately, he is just so short!

VSpan - inconsistent shooter and alot of times he's just out of control. I love his fire though.

TMac runs the offense better than anyone, but he needs to be in score first mode right now.

Every player in the league has weaknesses, but Rocket PG's weaknesses are pretty pronounced. Basically what I'm trying to say is, an upgrade at PG would be great! As is, I think we can get to the playoffs with Alston at the helm, with V-Span...not a chance.

Rafer is still our best PG, even you include Head as a PG.
But I say give V-span at least 3 or 5 mins per game, let him develop.

I have an odd feeling that this is just a thread to bash Rafer. JVG if you get lucky. No real options here.

sorry Amel, but your spanoulis love is going way overboard. He may end up being a good player, but the only person stopping him now is himself. Not Van Gundy. Lucas has played himself into the rotation with strong minutes and Spanoulis will have to work hard to get them back. If he is having a hard time winning minutes away from Lucas, how in the hell can you conceive of a universe where he gets starters minutes and it benefits the team?

The fact that 20 people have voted for 35 mins of Spanoulis is absolutely ridiculous.

And your poll is ridiculous. This would NEVER happen. Why do you want "some numbers" on something that's impossible?

Is this post a kind of way to bash Vspan? I don't even need to put my vote to know the poll result which is obviously Rafer's win over Vspan. It's so ridiculous to play Vspan over 30 mins right now. I just don't get the point why the poster preferred to put that unrealistic option instead of playing Vspan 10-20 mins and etc.
