it isn't just chris evans who says it, the character human torch always says it -- they're doing it for continuity purposes. in fact when he jumps off the building I waited for a moment cus I expected him to say it immediately and when he didn't I started to wonder if he was going to...then he did.

I doubt they're going to make him do it every time since certain shots will be him already doing his thing, but it is what it is.

The Silver Surfer was one of those forced bad guys. Galactus is one of the ultimate bad guys in Marvel Comics and has Silver Surfer as basically a slave. Surfer had to become the herald in order to save his own family. Galactus bestowed his power on him to serve as his herald. Anyway, Surfer goes to Earth which to scout it for doom by Galactus and things transpire from there.

The first FF4 movie was beyond terrible, so I guess there's nowhere to go but up for the franchise.

Then you must not have seen her in Into the Blue. I wasn't much of a fan of hers until that movie. There were some shots of her bikini'd back porch in that film that made me want to jump to my feet and praise God for creating her.

    History....

The noble Norrin Radd was a member of an extremely long-lived race of humanoid aliens who had achieved a virtual utopia on the planet Zenn-La, eradicating disease, poverty, war and all other social ills. Growing discontent with his life of idle hedonism, Radd recognised that his culture was becoming stagnant. In his mind, men could only find fulfilment in quest, yearning and struggle. Set apart from other Zenn-Lavians by his belief in a better world, Radd alone saw through people’s false sense of security - which was shattered by the arrival of the devourer of worlds, Galactus. Radd implored Zenn-Las’s Council of Scientists to provide him with a spacecraft so he could rendezvous with Galactus and broker peace.

Galactus meant no malice, but only by draining Zenn-La’s life energies could he satiate his awesome hunger. Having searched for sustenance too long to begin anew, Galactus mused that a herald would enable him to spare populated planets such as Zenn-La by scouting out suitable worlds for him to consume. In exchange for Zenn-La’s protection, Radd selflessly agreed to serve Galactus and helped him devour countless worlds. His body automatically restructured by Galactus to suit the task, Radd set out immediately to locate a lifeless planet on which his new master could feed. The Silver Surfer discharged his duties efficiently thereafter, providing himself with as much time as possible to delight in the wonders of the universe. But the task of finding energy-rich planets devoid of sentient beings became increasingly difficult, and Galactus had gone for an extended period of time without nourishment when the Surfer entered Earth’s solar system.

While Galactus prepared to absorb the planet’s life energy, the blind sculptress Alicia Masters attempted to convince the Surfer that the beauty inherent in life on Earth was worth preserving. Moved by Alicia’s words, the Surfer stood with the Fantastic Four against his master. Galactus was forced to spare Earth, but punished his subordinate herald by erecting an energy barrier that prevented the Surfer from leaving the planet. Despite his longing to travel through outer space and his desperate attempts to escape Earth, the Surfer proved unable at first to breach Galactus’ barricade. During his time on Earth, the Surfer learned to love life in all its forms. At times horrified by man’s inhumanity to his fellow man, he nonetheless came to appreciate the human struggle.

The Surfer eventually escaped his exile on Earth with the aid of Mr. Fantastic, only to discover that Galactus had exacted the ultimate revenge for his subordinate’s betrayal by devastating Zenn-La. Bearing a heavy burden in his heart for the loss of his former home and the life he once knew, Radd now freely soars the spaceways as a universal protector. Seeking wonder in the vast reaches of the cosmos, he returns regularly to Earth because of his close ties to the people and places of his adopted homeworld. Although he is often greatly distressed by mankind’s behaviour, the Surfer has developed great sympathy for the morally upright members of the human race. The Surfer has allied himself with the Fantastic Four and others among Earth’s native superhuman champions. Through the years, the innocent and trusting Surfer has encountered forces, both otherworldly and earthly, that have sought to break his noble spirit and enslave him to their will. But always, the power of truth prevails – and he finds himself free once again to explore the stars.

They are trying harder for this one since they got a bigger budget. Galactus and SS will be a welcome addition, less origin for the four and more action is generally a good thing. At least they got the look down, but not so sure about the new phasing power.

    Huge Plot Spoilers:
Doom comes back and figures out a way to control the surfer by replicating the control signals that galactus has over the silver surfer. However, galactus shows up and the F4 need to free the surfer, defeat doom and then stop galactus by stealing the ultimate nullifier from his pod using the surfer's help. At the end, Sue announces that she is pregnant. The baxter building will have a lot more cool inventions roaming around, expect H.E.R.B.I.E to make an appearance and play an important role.

Nah, Batman Forever wasn't that horrible. Now Superman III --> Superman IV: The Quest For Peace. There's a better example.

    Yeah that's a good one.

Batman Forever wasn't that bad at the time, but watching it now it's total garbage, so I stand by that.

Well, every Batflick from the 80's and 90's is crap now compared to Batman Begins. Batman Forever was alright, but could've been even better had they not butchered it in the editing room(and not hired Sh-tmaker as director).

Batman Begins is overrated and a bit goofy in places. IMO Batman Returns is the best of the lot.

I hope this is not just a simple re-telling of the Silver Surfer story.

FF4 wasn't a bad movie. It did not advance the genre.

yeah she was smoking in sin city but that movie wasn't made yesterday. she's still quite gorgeous but she's lost a decent amount of weight and isn't half as good looking as she used to be, imo.

Alba was hot when she was in that Flipper tv show. Now she's like the b-grade version of Charlize Theron.

I disagree. batman begins was the only movie that accurately showed how batman would fight people -- though I wish I saw more of the choreography that's exactly how batman would deal with people. turning out the lights and using confusion -- basically ninja tricks.

Man, superhero movies get a lot of leeway when it comes to sequels, I mean, between this and Hellboy 2 being in production. Hell, even "The Punisher" is getting a sequel, and it only made 33 mil domestic.

When you have the license to make a movie from a property owned by another company, it's either use it or lose it.
