There's a mass transportation journal? anyways.. yeah both of you are pretty nerdy.. although I'm interested in seeing what kind of stuff you guys write in there
The nerd label just doesn't mean what it used to mean...back when "Revenge of the Nerds" came out. Nerds used to be pretty sparse. Computers weren't really mainstream 12-15 years ago back when browsers and games were mostly text-based. You really had to work hard to have a nerd label back then. You had to have the pocket protector, button your shirt up to the collar, wear glasses with tape holding them together in the center, study often, etc. . These days...everyone is a freaking nerd. If you are on a computer and on a message board, then you have some nerdmanship. The lines between who is and who is not a nerd are completely obscure and blurred. I would say that if you are not a nerd in this day and age, then you are probably pretty oblivious to technology, not very adaptive to change, and sort of out of it. You've failed to keep up. I don't know what that makes you. Sure, you can still look at someone and say "that guy's a nerd". But, you best look in the mirror, pal. Nerds are no longer the few...their the many. So, yea, I'm a nerd and I'm proud to be a nerd. To me, nerdmanship means you are dedicated and hard working while utilizing the technology available to you. I guess a nerd can also be a gamer...which I'm a pretty weak gamer. I guess there are different nerd scales and some people are higher than others. There are the "I'm only a nerd at work" peeps who think they can leave the label when they go home, aka part-time nerds (you know who you are). I rate myself 75% on the 100% nerdmanship scale.
I use to play, Counterstrike, WOW, City of Villains and Marvel Alliance. Well, the last one i still play.
I am a nerd, I like technology and electronics, like to surf the web, play videogames, I am interested in scientific stuff. I watch the discovery channel and the History channel, I go onto wikipedia and click on random things because I want to learn more.
surfguy, i think it just takes more to be a nerd now. Being up on your computer technology and the interent alone doesn't make you a big nerd. If you're one of the ones family and friends turn to when they have computer/network/whatever issues, then maybe so
How bout playing muliplayer with your friends outside of a Best Buy at 7am in the morning waiting in line for the new Wii. Or, bringing your xbox and 27inch crt over to your buddies house so all your friends can play multiplayer team halo on multiple screens! Everybody's got a little nerd in them...and that's okay. Being a nerd is fine...being a geek isn't.
I'm a huge nerd. I love sci-fi, I know half a dozen programming languages, and I used to make my living as a UNIX guru. Then i decided to go to law school, and the nerdiness continues. If you want to meet some ubernerds, go to law school.
I just checked and my paper isn't available online anymore but it was published thorugh The Center for Transportation Studies http://www.cts.umn.edu/ It was on land use on the a light rail corridor. Maybe not so nerdy but more wonkish.
If you know what an emoticon is, then you're a nerd. The more you know them, the more nerdier you are and become. Haha. Think about it. Some of you may still be okay. Their all around you. But, you may not know this term for them. They may be referred to as something else which is more obvious. We can't be sure. Wikipedia: Emoticon EMOTICON! CLEAR! I NEED 2 PINTS OF EMOTICONS! STAT!
It's great, thanks for asking. It feels funny every now and then (almost has me questioning whether they got all of the tear or not, but I don't think that's out of the norm. There's some fluid in it also, but other than that, it feels like new.
I'm so nerdy much of my days are spent in a chat room (#houstonrockets). I'm so nerdy I dated my boyfriend (whom I met on clutchfans) for 2 1/2 months before I actually MET him in person.
1) Last past days I saw a lot of: - Waterhole in Africa (through wavelit) - NASA TV via Internet 2) Posting in a message board instead of going out on a saturday night
