If you're going to say you can host football games...high school playoffs and college bowls....how about putting down a surface you can actually play football on?

It looked like freaking Candlestick Park in there yesterday!!! I saw it like that at a high school game earlier. It's a freaking domed stadium. Fix it.

I was there last night and I agree it looked real bad.

They have had so many problems with it, I just don't get it.

Madmx, you read my mind. I was about to post a thread about the playing field at Reliant Stadium until I saw your thread.

I agree. The grass looked TERRIBLE. You could actually see lumps of grass and dirt all over the field. I'm all for fieldturf. The Texans even have it inside their practice facility (aka "The Bubble). Now, they just need it inside Reliant Stadium.

Couldn't agree more. We were in the K-State endzone and after pre-game drills the end zone was shredded. There was a lot of slipping due to poor traction early on as well.

I'll be back on Sunday - we'll see how it looks then.

Right off of Fannin there was the other 1-1/2 field(s) and those looked to be in good shape

Yeah. some fans in Rutger forums were complaining about it. That sucks. Makes our city look bad.

That really means nothing... sure, they have some trays available for replacing the turf every now and then, but they simply can't have a tray on-hand for every single time the field gets shredded (which happens every game).

Also, grass that doesn't allow to take root as a whole (for the field) just isn't going to survive. The individual trays need to be in place for the entire field, and then the field should be able to grow as a whole. That's the only way to ensure that the entire field is fair.

In hindsight, for these retractable roof domes, they either need field turf, or they need to be designed like the one in Phoenix (where the ENTIRE field gets transported to outside the stadium, to get maximum sunlight).

Hell, on Madden... they've had fieldturf at Reliant Stadium since 2002. Even EA sports understands that grass won't grow inside that box with a hole in the roof.

man the food is terrible at MMP and Reliant, FU Aramark.

TC has good food, it is not too big of a deal at Reliant for me because I tailgate for football and eat outside during Rodeo but yes if I do eat in there it is terrible. MMP is a bigger deal since baseball games are long and start at dinner time. The 9 amigos is ok but the watered down beer and crap food pisses me off at Reliant and MMP

You serious?! Toyota Center's food sucks in terms of value/quality/price. MMP rocks, though admittadly I only get the footlongs there when I catch an Astros game. Those taste great. The hot dogs at TC on the other hand, taste like something you get from a school cafeteria.

I was just about to say why does Reliant have so many problems when MMP doesn't, but then the field at MMP is essentially permanent; and the only times you see them replacing sections is when the grass dries out and dies.

Reliant should get that synthetic blend that all the other new stadiums seem to have now.

Stadium food at Toyota is terrible but they have other things I like to eat.

Hot Dogs and nine amigos are the only thing I can stand at the Astros game.

Reliant just like MMP subs out to Aramark that's why service and food is so bad. TC venders are employes and work all events that is why things are better.

While watching on tv, I called my brother who was at the game to ask him if the field really looked that bad live. What an embarassment to the city, Reliant Stadium, Lone Star Sports, and the Texans. They should be ashamed of themselves. You want to sell this game as a legit bowl and you throw out a field that junior high teams would hate?

the basic problem. sunlight comes in at an angle. I saw this problem the first time I saw the design of the stadium, and I am in no way a lawn expert.

The new Fieldturf at Rice stadium is very nice - right amount of cushion, doesn't grab at your shoes. No reason Reliant shouldn't have it.

How can you expect Carr to win with a crappy field. Give him a good field next year to see if he can win
