Court vision: 3
Penetration/Stamina:2

Comments: average NBA playmaker, acceptable shooting percentage, however takes tooooo many shots, poor penetration
Lucas
Shot:3
Passing:2
Court vision:2
Penetration/Stamina:3
Leadership:1
Comments:quick, good shooting, too small to have a major role in any team, hardly any og qualities, much too short shooting guard
Spanoulis
Shot:2
Passing:3
Court vision:4
Penetration/Stamina:4
Leadership:3
Comments: good penetration, good court vision, has proven that he can be a good passer, however still too many risky passes bad long-range shot, acceptable midrange shooting

How about we get to the heart of our troubles and rate our PF play? That's where we hurt the most.

Anyway,...

Alston
Shot: 3-- his shot is average. Not superior, but not poor, particularly from 3 where he needs to be at least 36% or better.
Passing: 4- Good passer, sees the court well in both halfcourt and transition; smart and effective with the ball
Court vision: 3 - Good vision on the break.
Penetration/Stamina: 3 - has good penetration skills, but doesn't do it near enough. Stamina is fine, seems to be in good condition to play heavy minutes (which he has)
Leadership: 4- Good leader. Aside from Battier, probably our most vocal leader and a true team players who just flat-out knows how to run the team.

Lucas
Shot: 3.5 - Hasn't shown enough for me to judge accurately, but has a good release and takes smart shots.
Passing: 2.5 - makes good decisions on the break, but hasn't shown anything in halfcourt sets
Court vision: 2- again, hasn't shown enough, and usually takes the ball himself on the break
Penetration/Stamina: N/A
Leadership: 2- not much of a leader at this point, but knows his role.

Spanoulis
Shot: 2.5 - Poor release, taks too long to get off shot, seems reluctant as a shooter
Passing: 3.5 - good transition passer, but makes stupid passes that will come from experience
Court vision: 1- has only shown to know where the opposing players are
Penetration/Stamina: - 4 -- good penetrator, attacks basket well- his strongest asset at this point
Leadership: 2- not really much of one yet.

It's really beyond me that anybody would rate John Lucas' passing above 1. The guy has a grand total of 2 assists in 74 minutes of playing time. If this is considered acceptable for a PG, more power to you.

Haha... so it's really on a scale of 1-4 then :D

Alston

Shot: 3 -- Mediocre... finishing has vastly improved, 3 ball seems to be steadying at around 37~ish %. Should not be a main shooter.
Passing: 4 -- Great entry passer to Yao. Is almost always the player that passes to the player who gets the assist, when it isn't himself.
Court vision: 3.5 -- It's definately there, and he's great at finding the open man when he dribble penetrates (not as often as I'd like), but our offensive scheme doesn't have many players cutting to the basket for him to find. Runs the fast break well.
Penetration/Stamina: 3.5 -- Started the season off very cold but has lately been our best, hands down.
Leadership: 3.5 -- Is generally extremely solid but has had issues in a few games with late turnovers. Occasionally thinks of himself too highly (ie. shooting more than he should)

Lucas
Shot: 3.5 -- Weak from the three, good elsewhere.
Passing: 1 -- He passes?
Court vision: 1 -- see Passing
Penetration/Stamina: 4/NA -- Can definately get to the rim. Definately uses his size/speed well. Stamina cannot be measured at this point.
Leadership: 1 -- see Passing. HORRIBLE with the shot clock!

Spanoulis
Shot: 2 -- Terrible from three. Decent elsewhere
Passing: 3 -- Can pass, but in some cases shouldn't.
Court vision: 2.5 -- Might see a little too much... Kinda like Kobe's comments on Gilbert's 60 -- When he makes them, they're great passes. When they're off, they are terrible.
Penetration/Stamina: 3.5/NA -- Can get to the rim but usually looks a bit out of control towards the finish.. Stamina can't really be measured at this point
Leadership: 2.5 -- He seems confident in himself but thus far it hasn't seemed to transfer to his teammates. Maybe higher in time.

Alston
Shot:3.5, top 15 3 pt shooter among pg.
Passing:4.5 top 10 3 pt shooter among pg.
Court vision:3.5 steet ball says all
Penetration/Staminaenetration 3.5
Leadership:4.0. He step up when Tmac is out, He made clutch shoots. I think he currently lead 3pt shot percentage in the entire league (periously was no.2).

Lucas
Shot:4
Passing:3 When his is on court, usually JVG ask him to score, so, he is underrated in passing.
Court vision:2
Penetration/Staminaenetration 4
Leadership:N/A

Spanoulis
Shot:1 poor shot ability+ poor shot decision
Passing:2,
Court vision:4 A good vision usually lead to a good passing, but his skills limit it. So his passings end up with turnovers.
Penetration/Staminaenetration 2.5. Can't finish
Leadership:N/A

Anyone who rates Alston as a 3 or above shooter...Wow. He's not an average or above average shooter. He's above average 3pt shooter, and WAY below average 2pt shooter.

I mean, I like Alston, but he's not a good shooter. I think he could be a 4 in passing, court vision and leadership but he makes a lot of boneheaded TO's at critical moments, which for me lowers it some.

He's still our best PG by a fair margin though.

I would add "Defense" as a category to rate. Also, Head is basically our main backup PG.

Alston
Shot: 3. Not consistent, but improved this season.
Passing: 3. Has skill but doesn't have length.
Court vision: 2. Pretty poor.
Penetration/Stamina: 2. Again, the major problem is his length.
Leadership: 2. Not the worse, I guess.
Defense: 2. Any above mediocre PG can beat him at will.

Lucas
Shot: 4. He's a way undersized shooter.
Passing: 1. The worse PG I've ever seen. I'm talking about the desire to pass.
Court vision: 2. Too short.
Penetration/Stamina: 2. He's quick but he's also short.
Leadership: 1. If you can't pass, you can't talk about leadership of a PG.
Defense: 2. Doesn't have a body for NBA level play but he is quick.

Spanoulis
Shot: 2. Bad shooter from outside.
Passing: 4. By far the best PG of our team in this category.
Court vision: 3. Still try to find chemistry with team. Will get better.
Penetration/Stamina: 3. Fast but undersized.
Leadership:
: 3. Have seen it in the WC games but not here in Rox.
Defense: 3. Best defensive PG. But still, undersized.

Head
Shot: 4. One of the best 3pt shooter, but not as good inside the arc.
Passing: 2. Maybe more due to his poor skill to handle the ball.
Court vision: 2. No size and can't dribble the ball.
Penetration/Stamina: 2. Not good, really.
Leadership:
: 4. If we instead talk about clutch play.
Defense: 3. Undersized, but still better than Alston and JL3.

OK, I did a little tallying and the averages comes out so far:

Alston:
Shot: 2.73
Passing: 3.53
Vision: 2.83
Penetration: 3.50
Leadership: 2.77
Defense: 2.0

Lucas:
Shot: 3.32
Passing: 1.82
Vision: 1.79
Penetration: 3.23
Leadership: 1.46
Defense: 2.0

VSpan:
Shot: 1.46
Passing: 2.82
Vision: 3.25
Penetration: 3.14
Leadership: 2.04
Defense: 3.0

Head:
Shot: 4.38
Passing: 2.0
Vision: 2.0
Penetration: 2.5
Leadership: 2.75
Defense 2.5

The figures for defense aren't very accurate since only two people have ranked them (myself included), and Head also has very few stats.

Also, if people ranked someone with a 0 or negative in a category, I counted those as 1's.

You guys are so funny.

How can you rate players who have only played 61 and 171 minutes?

We have someone leadership is 5? OMG.

Is there any reason why ballhandling (includes ability to keep possession) and defense isn't factored in? Especially considering those are 2 of the 3 most important things a PG is reponsible for. I'll do my own ratings.

Rafer
Ballhandling: 4
Shooting: 3
Ball distribution (encompasses vision/passing): 4
Penetrating: 3
Man Defense: 3
Help Defense: 4

Luther
Ballhandling: 2
Shooting: 5
Ball distribution (encompasses vision/passing): 2
Penetrating: 3
Man Defense: 2
Help Defense: 4

John
Ballhandling: 3
Shooting: 3
Ball distribution (encompasses vision/passing): 3
Penetrating: 3
Man Defense: 2
Help Defense: 2

Billy
Ballhandling: 1
Shooting: 1
Ball distribution (encompasses vision/passing): 3
Penetrating: 3
Man Defense: 4
Help Defense: 2

I'm a new Houston Rockets fan so I don't know a lot about these statics of Rocket's PGs. I just can say that Spanoulis can really shoot and can really be leader in the team not yet, but by the time. He justa have to play more minutes. I don't speak about his defense because is just great. :)

Additionally, it might be nice to talk about what you believe the responsibilities of the PG are "on this team/in this offense". And clarify what the PG's responsibilities are when Tmac is on the floor (where Tmac is playing defacto PG) and when Tmac/Yao are NOT on the floor.
