Of his 5 years with this team, how many of those years have the Texans, as a team, been at least mediocre?

Carr's M.O. generally prevents these opportunities, but specifics his play directly led via Ints, fumbles or even key sacks giving up valuable field position which either potentially took points off the board or negated more favorable field position for your D to operate from are pretty numerous.

The Redskins game he helped provide no consistent offensive flow and yes, though the D ultimately did not help, the O largely with exception of the first drive of the game, did nothing as well. The Texans had some chances to win this one. The first real UGH! loss of the season.

The Cowboys game we were up 6-3 at the half and then Carr had turnovers on successive drives to help reignite the 'Boys O and T.O. much to our chagrin. We just gave this game away.

The Titans game up in Music City, Carr has fumblitis. In particular, one just prior to the end of the half where the D did not even get a chance to somewhat stop because their D score uncontestedly. Though benched for ineffective play in the second half, Carr messed the game just enough to prevent even a veteran like Sage to make a comeback.

The Raiders game, though ultimately a victory, the result was not because of our QB's play. He was sacked 5 times, fumbled 3 times and 2 of those fumbles were lost and yes, another contributed to ANOTHER uncontested defensive score by the Raiders. Carr passed for -5 yds NET!!! Kuby totally abandoned the pass to give his team a legitimate chance to win!

The Pats game, 4 sacks, 4 Ints on arguably his worst performance of his career. Not a good commentary on ones progress when your QB is on his 73rd career start.

The only games this year I remotely saw Carr make a semblance of a difference in were both the Jag games and the Giants game.

The Buffalo game he showed some poise in helping to rally the troops, but ultimately the game was a loss. Once again, Carr did not lose the game, but he did not make enough plays to win the game either.

That seems to be the comment line to define his career thus far.

Even in the Colts game, he played mistake-free football but, Dayne was clearly the reason why we won last sunday. Carr manages, but rarely makes game-changing plays. Example: the Titan game on the 10th of this month, I was there, Carr with the Texans and the game in the closing moments of regulation, settle for tie and attempt for victory in OT. We know the rest of this story. Perhaps if Carr goes for the TD instead of a tying FG try, perhaps we win this game instead. Perhaps, if Kuby had confidence in Carr, he would have had Carr make a legitimate attempt at getting at least a FG before the end of the half and with Carr's previous bungles at end of half opportunities, who could blame him for not trusting Carr. Either one of those drive results different, the Texans win and not the Titans! Dont blame the D for that one. The O did not do enough especially in the second half to help the D win. But, it is what it is right now.

Carr's play did not result in ONE singlehanded victory! Attempts yes, victories NO!

Even after the Colts game, Carr STILL has largely demonstrated nothing this year other than consistently performing as an average at best to below average QB.

Whether you agree or not, Carr has had some opportunities to show himself to be a capable leader and demonstrate himself to be sufficiently competent as an NFL QB. Largely, his efforts up to this point have produced lowered expectations.

I'm not defending Carr, but it sounds like Kubiak has been capping Carr a lot. He was saying after the Colts victory at one point Carr was screaming into the microphone, "Come on, let's stretch the field!", but Kubiak refused.

Carr not throwing deep most likely isn't his decision. Kubiak doesn't have faith in him.

    Has he EARNED that Faith?
Actually . . He has been GIVEN everything by the Texans
and has not COMPETED since he been here
    He needs Competition

    ALSO
Carr just got his 1st spoonful of his Demotion
    From Quarterback
    to GAME MANAGER

Definitely not, I never said he had. People are saying that Carr doesn't win games with his arm though, and I'm giving one possible reason why. Kubiak doesn't let him. I don't know if I would if was Kubiak either though.

Kubiak doesn't have faith in the downfield passing game, not just Carr.

The run was working.. working well.. and Kubiak's decision to run that much basically won us the game.

    Well played, Kubes.

I agree. And it was refreshing to see, because in a couple of games recently he went away from Dayne as the game went on, and I couldn't understand why.

And Tony Romo has gone from the "chosen one"... to making some predictable rookie mistakes.

Cowboys could not run the football at all, put Romo in bad situations, as did the defense who could not stop anybody. Watching him play, you can tell he's a special QB and now he's got Carrie Underwood after him. b*stard.

The same guy who was throwing them when they lost to the Cowboys 34-6 this season.

In the 19-10 win, Carr was precisely what people are saying- a game manager type who did just enough to not completely destroy the team's chances of winning. Here are his stats from that game, to refresh your memory:

    Att: 22
    Comp: 10
    %: 45.5
    Yds: 145
    TD: 2
    INT: 1
    Rushing: 4 attempts, -2 yards
    1 fumble, which he recovered.
    Win: 19-10

Seemed like a solid performance from a rookie starting in his first game, especially in that scenario.

Here are his stats from the Cowboys game this year:

    Att: 27
    Comp: 15
    %: 55.6
    Yds: 128
    TD: 0
    INT: 2
    Rushing: 3 attempts, 15 yards.
    Loss: 34-6

I don't see any progress there, after 4 seasons.

And before you start talking about an improved Cowboys defense, here's a comparison between the 2 seasons:

    ________________________2002______2006
    Rush Yds allowed/game____113.6_____104.9
    Pass Yds allowed/game____215.6_____215.3

Giving Carr credit for that first Cowboys win seems a bit like giving him credit for the Colts win. Sure, it was an awesome win for the team, but Carr's role was essentially not screwing it up. Of course you could envision a QB doing a worse job than Carr, but is that really the standard you want?

I want a new QB as much as anyone, but this just isn't true. When the Texans establish a running game, and then Carr starts using Play Action and Bootlegs, he's a very reliable QB. I still think he's the second-best QB at throwing accurately on the run. (Was the best between the downfall of Culpepper and the rise of Vince Young, the Great.)

ROUND 1 - someone for the Defense [Maybe a Safety]
    ROUND 2 - maybe a running back

Did you see the Oakland game? The running game has been just fine for a month - and Carr hasn't done anything of note. As MadMax suggested, at his best, he's been mediocre.

If Carr had been drafted in the fifth round...
If Vince Young had been drafted because Carr was performing like a 5th round pick.
If Carr had won about 4-5 games each season because he engineered winning drives and made big plays.
If Carr didn't fumble at a NFL record pace
If Carr didn't have so many passes knocked down with his sidearm release
If Carr could read defenses better and not hold the ball so long to take so many sacks

And yes if Carr had a better running game

And Definately if Carr had a better offensive line

And sure if the receivers never dropped a pass

And oh yeah if Carr was the team leader on and off the field (at least on offense).........

Point is when you have that many 'ifs' after 5 seasons on your franchise #1 overall pick QB-

You blew it and the sooner you admit it and move on the sooner you might be building a Super Bowl contender.

I agree. That with a combination of a good offensive line at the SAME TIME. When our O-line was strong, we had no running game. When our O-line was weak, a little later our running game came out. I think Carr needs both of those things.

Maybe i am asking for too much though. Carr deffinetly is accurate. Thats is clear from how he performs in pointless minutes.

Who says Carr cant lead game winning drives? He has on every occasion where he could tie or win the game. With the exceptions of the games where Jameel Cook fumbles the ball. Throughout his career he has done that successfully actually.
