Fantastic post OddsOn... and you even threw in a Heroes reference! So fitting! Yao, I have no doubt, is chomping at the bit to get back. I hope he recovers quickly and completely! The boys just have the hold the fort until our Hero gets back. Everyone knows why I began following the Rockets, Chuck, but through the course of learning about this team and really becoming a fan of the whole group of them, Yao has become one of my all time favorite players. A player with talent is one thing to admire, but hardworkers are what I love. You can't help but root for Yao to get the respect he deserves, you can't help but celebrate with him when he makes a big shot, you can't help but love his dedication and work ethic, and you can't help but love that he even has a sense of humor! If anyone deserves a standing ovation for effort its Yao. He is a real hero.
The Taiwan earthquake had crippled 6 out 7 of the major undersea optical fibres and had paralyzed Internet traffic of the region, which had made my daily update on this thread almost impossible. Sometimes you never know whether you can connect onto Clutchfan site or not and the traffic is as slow as a snail....... Anyway, just saw this post from Shane Battier on his bi-weekly blog on sina.com where he talked about the impact of Yao Ming's injury to the Rockets. I am getting more and more fond of Shane Battier....great player and comrade of Big Yao !!!
This is from Basketball Pioneer's Zheng Peng. An interview on Keith Jones on Yao Ming's latest status.
Pryuen, when it comes to earthquakes and typhoons, Taiwan seems like the capital of the world sometimes. Every year it seems like they get pounded by a major event.
Thats because they are smack dab in the middle of the China Sea. They are like the Cuba of Asia, right in the path of most storms.
Compared with the Philippines, Taiwan is already much better...... Every of typhoons originate on the Pacific hit Philippines head-on before they continue to hit other countries.....
Why are the Chinese media so concerned if Yao can play in the ASG? There is no way Yao would or Rockets would let him play in the ASG even if he recovers before that.
Pry, can you tell us how Yao will stay in shape? I know he can't do much that require bending or straining of his leg, how does he keep off the extra pounds? Also, how does he keep his stamina? Will he be playing a lot of Warcraft during the day?
Hi, all, I am not the fan of Rockets until Yao take part in this team. But now, even Yao would be out for six weeks, I would take care every match of Rockets. Go Rockets, hope we can do something in the post season.
You are a YOF. Rockets is not a strong team, they always play ugly games even with Yao and Tmac. I still love this team because of the two surper stars. Dallas and suns are in TNT right now, we can find the difference from them. I hate them, but they are really really super teams.
Yao is feeling a little better now. He will go back to TC tomorrow morning to work on his upper strength.
Not sure where you got this information. I frequented on a daily basis all major Chinese sports sites on sina.com, sohu.com, tom.com, qq.com......There is no news/articles mentioning about Yao Ming ready to return for training, even it is for his upper limbs.
If that is the case, then maybe you're someone with insider information, someone close to Yao Ming ?? And by your nick....A. Yao, could you be Andy Yao Anhong 姚安鸿, the guy (in blue shirt) that hosted the The Houston Rockets Big Hour in Yao's rookie season, the Taiwanese guy that is now a very close friend and great fan of Yao Ming ??
Looks like Yao's completely adjusted to NBA/American life. He's even referring to himself in the third-person. j/k
