I'm a Houston Fan. I'm not annoyed lol..

Just saying anyone here should be able to express their opinions.

I'm a Rockets Fan, not a Texans fan, so when I do see VY threads I find them funny to read.

It's even funnier when people let the threads get to them.

That's super, but the bottom line is that they are against the Houston home team and their fans. It shouldn't be here. They can go to a non-Houston site.

    I beg to differ. :D

The difference between "hypocrisy" and "double standard" is subtle, but it can be fairly easily illustrated with a pair of contrasting examples. If I preach civility in posting and/or replying to posts, but I use (or used) foul languanges in my own posts, I am guilty of hypocrisy. If I accuse somebody of being foul-mouthed, but I nevertheless assault him with 4-letter words in the mean time (or in the more likely scenario, I used f-bombs on somebody else in the past), I hold a double standard. What Fatty pointed out is Sammy were practicing double standard on (criticizing) "attention whoring."

IMO you had the "narrow" (specific) and "broad" (general) reversed with regard to the respective interpretation of "hypocrisy" and "double standard."

Moreover, according to Wikipedia, a hypocrite pretends or claims to have beliefs, feelings, morals or virtues that he/she does not truly possess or practice, on the other hand, a double-standard practitioner truly believes in his/her right to a certain behavior while denying others the same right.

Finally, I truly believe Sammy would rather be accused of practicing double standard than be called a hypocrite.

    Now carry on. ;)

1994 game six final attending (yes in the Summit) Houston Rockets fan not offended by VY threads discussing his progress in the NFL ~ the other gloating threads are annoying.

You dont care because you are a Tennessee Titan fan and not a Houston Texan fan. That's the point. Tennessee fan should go to Tennessee site. People are not discussing VY here, they are Titans fans bashing Houston.

And so on. This doesn't belong here at all. It belongs on a Tennessee site plain and simple.

The only reason those threads keep popping up is to poke a stick into some die hard Texan's fans.

I like Vince....as is clear from my posts, but I can see where they would get annoying.

Just ignore them if you don't like em...if you don't post in them, they will fall quicker than a lead balloon.

When did I say any of that crap -- while we're at it...

You would have rooted against Hakeem had he been selected by another town ~ never mind all he did for H-Town and Phi Slamma Jamma.

    true dat

Poor SF sitting on the KNicks bench playing like Scotty Brooks...I dont really think he needs a life, just a different team, coach and some primo tix to the next Super Bowl.

    :D

btw...Fatty is totally correct.....waht you see is what you get.

tho to be honest, he hasnt ever came across Oscar-like to me personally...but I have seen him actively try to evoke strong reactions from people in a bar....it was funna.

Why do you let threads on a message board get to you?

Last time I checked we could talk about anything we wanted in the Hangout section.

LOL, this marks the 2,482nd time you have said that you don't care about my posts/you won't respond to them/I should get a life. I wouldn't mind if you followed through with that vow for once, to tell you the truth, so that I can belittle you in the manner you deserve in relative peace and quiet.

N-E-Way Fatsy, the diff between you and me is that I generally don't broadcast the offline portion of my life on the BBS (have fun in New Orleans this weekend...). This may of course lead you (you being the suspicious sort) to believe I don't have one owing to my frequent activity on here as of late, which is fine and dandy if you do. It shall not undercut my offline life, though the recurring dream of you, me, and a Bosnian transvestite hooker calling him/herself Amel, collectively naked in a Reykjavik sauna engaged in unspeakable acts is certainly a serious drawback to excessive posting. Oh well, happy new year I guess.

The perfect example would be when I loved Zach Thomas. He intercepted a ball for Tech to beat ATM in overtime. I loved him.

Then he did the same thing as a Dolphin to my Oilers. While I still like the guy, it was over, fandom-wise.

No, the difference is that I actually work. Had I posted a thread on my doings for New Years, that would make me an attention w****. The fact that I post my doings lets people here who know me (and, yes moron, I've met several) what is up. For anyone who might be there, it can be fun. I've met up with other bbs'ers in the past, mostly in Houston. Hell, T_J and I were supposed to meet in Vegas because we had ironically planned trips with other people,(oohhh, was that not the true definition of "ironic" you moronic Rhodes Scholar???) but we didn't exchange numbers in time, so it didn't happen. Point being, people who call other people out as much as you do should be willing to move away from the screen from time to time and be seen. Otherwise, behave.

Sammy, you have made it a point to bother me since you came in. Jealousy, perhaps? Who knows... Any mod can check out your frequency, I'm sure.

But I would certainly like to know when I've instigated an argument with you? Because lord knows I try to ignore your idiocy.

For people like you, a hidey-hole is entertainment. Why that is? Beyond me. As I said, you seem to be a man with little to do other than annoy people.

But you are more than welcome to talk, macbethian style, about your accolades, as you did right now.

Just expect people to call you out on it.

(BTW, did I use my comma's correctly?)

    "Lawyer."

Please tell me when and where I can see this. I can hit New York easily this year. I've been meaning to see the WTC, which I worked in until 2000.

I didn't say you said those. Those were just from the first 3 pages of one VY thread. You have made Mario Williams comments though.

Two posts later I clarified my post by stating I have never watched an entire college football game. I have watched tons of pro since the 70s, Oliers etc.

If Hakeem would of been selected by another team and in 1999 I came in here starting threads about how great he is and how I want the Rockets to lose I should expect to be banned and my thread to be locked.

Ha, and you've been about as successful at that as you are at ignoring Vince Young threads:

Examples of Fatty unilaterally provoking a beating at my hands:

    1

    2

    3

In fact you even started a whole entire thread devoted to try to get my goat.

One of these days fatty, the worm will turn.....

    damn meowgi

if clutch doesn't have a problem with it..then stfu

if he had problem with all the VY threads, then would say so but so far he hasn't done that..so im assuming its ok to have VY threads in the Hangout (why wouldn't it be)

obviously there is a huge VY following in this forum, these threads are going to continue for years to come, if you don't like it then don't click on 'em

this is a Houston Rockets forum and posting about the Titans and VY in the Hangout should be ok

also posting about the Texans and how they missed out on the VY in the Texans forum might be a little annoying but it is also funny and legit ;)

Okay, I agree that "hypocrisy" has the element of pretense whereas "double standard" doesn't. However, I still think I am correct that "hypocrisy" is only restricted to the one who preaches the standard, while "double standard" can be totally on other people.

Here are the examples: The NBA refs call some fouls on some players and not for other players based on their "star" status is practicing "double standard." On the other hand, if a ref accuses other refs of unfair star treatment, yet he himself practice the same thing, he is a hypocrite.

Okay, have we succeed in derailing the thread yet? :D

Absolutely hysterical that you have to go back 2 - 2 1/2 years ago to prove your argument.

Starting to realize that I've been ignoring you for quite some time? Why, you may ask? Because you are an annoying person, and it gets old, at least to me.

I'm tired of this, and of you. I'll be in New York next year. Let me know if you'd like to meet.

Wow, some of you guys are really sensitive. Yes, there are a bunch of VY threads, and yes, some of them are annoying. But, they'll eventually die down. Just give it time. In the meanwhile, I'd suggest you stop provoking the Pro-VY crowd (the ones starting the threads), which will only lead to more VY threads. Ignore the threads, and they'll go away. Short-term loss = long-term gain. (But you... just... can't... do that, can you?)
