Could we use Ron Artest? Yeah...

Do we need Ron Artest? No....

    Imagine this...

    V-Span
    McGrady
    Battier
    Artest
    Yao

    Talk about defense...

ron ron as a player can thrive and help the rockets tremendously. He can be our 2nd scorer and tmac with his current state can play the third option.

HOWEVER, I doubt any coach in this league can successfully coach this nuthead.

artest would be a great addition to any team in the NBA, but no one can coach him. It is a waste to see a great talent like him go wasted.

If clippers is going to acquire artest, they mind as well call the end of their season. imagine artest getting into brand's face or get into arguement with cassell. oh my!

    I say no to artest!

if we could get him, without giving up TMac, yao, or battier, we have to do it.

I'd love to have Artest on the team but only if we knew that he actually wants to play. Taking "rap nights off", so to speak, isn't gonna cut it.

When Ron-Ron became available last year (only last year? seems ages ago), the Rockets put in a bid. Obviously we didn't have the horses to get the deal done. I'm not saying we SHOULD get him. I'm saying that we had interest. Or, that desperate people do desperate things. We were sucking pretty hard last year.

I think it was in TSN that mentioned our signing of Bonzi Wells as OK, that JVG should control him just fine (sure did; "stay home, Bonzi, my way or the highway"). One donkey on a team is fine. Get two donkeys, however, and they'll breed.

(But what a defensive team if we had Artest at the 2 and Shane at the 3. T-Back? Well, right now I'd almost trade him for a nice draft pick and cap space, but that won't happen anyway, so....)

Taming one headcase a year is all any one coach should have to endure. I am of the firm mind we work with what we have.

    Snyder, Wells, and Artest...

Wow all the knuckleheads... bring them on... I like that..

Can we get Chuck Lidell as well? that's gonna bring some solid defense too. :D

Why would we want to pick up someone that clearly wears out his welcome everywhere he goes? He's being traded because he's a nutcase.

Not if the head coach is Phil Jackson. See Dennis Rodman.

This is not really rockets related but a vlad rad for ron artest trade would not be bad. Maybe we could work some four way action with the clippers , because it seems that lakers , clippers , and kings all seem to have players that are good but dont really fit in with the systems that they have in place.
It would be nice if the rockets could help facilitate a trade and land either vlad rad , corey or artest in the process.

Yeah in reality since we are loaded at our SF and SG positions I am not sure if the acquisition of Artest would bring us extra benefit. My main point in replying to JV's post is that a talent nutcase can be valuable asset to a team if the head coach is masterful at handling it/him.
