Andy Pettitte believes his pal, Roger Clemens, will be back in baseball by February. But despite their tight relationship, Pettitte says he has no idea where Clemens will sign. -- New York Daily News http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/scorecard/12/22/truth.rumors.mlb/index.html
I'm so sick of this story !! I think Roger and Andy are bootie buddies...Who cares their has beens..............Bye to both of them. I know some will bash me for talking about Roger this way but hes a half year rental that gets anything he wants from Uncle Drayton then takes all the Stros money..Let him be someone elses half year rental...
I have no problem with the Astros bringing Roger back. I'd be happy with that. But I'm with ya...I'm sick of the story.
Stros will be wasting their time with Roger if they bring him back. Too much $$ with far too little team wide results.
Roger has been a phenominal pitcher but the odds of him returning and pitching as strong are stacked against him. I'd like to see the Astros use the budget to bring in some strong bats as well as some fresh pitching. It's time to build for the future and not white knuckle the knot we've tied in the end of our rope.
[sarcasm]OMG, another Andy Pettitte thread? He's not on the Astros, he's a Yankee! He's the enemy! You aren't a true fan of the Astros!!! Lock and ban!![/sarcasm]
according to espn the yankees have already signed zito and clemens and have also won the 07-09 world series'. i don't know why the rest of baseball even exists.
No actually with him pitching the way he has...ERA's around 2 and whatnot, the odds are WITH him pitching well for ahwile. It could end anytime, but the splitfinger has lengthened his career and Roger hasn't battled any ARM problems.Think Nolie late in his career with a splitter.Clemens has been forced into becoming a better PITCHER. Drayton will pay the best pitcher in baseball because that's what he is... Roger makes us contenders.Oh,Rog does fill up the stadium and is a gigantic PR plus for Uncle too...and all he has to do is drive over from Memorial.
They told me that as well. I guess we should only watch Red Sox vs Yankee games until the playoffs start.
Okay, I agree that Roger's pitching is great. He's a great pitcher and a great guy. And you're right that Roger makes us contenders...but that's all... contenders. I want to be the CHAMPIONS! It doesn't matter how great of a pitcher you have on staff, if you don't have enough strong hitters to get runs on the board, it's useless. You've got to have a good balance. That was my only concern. But I shall yield to the expertise of the great minds on here. There is a obviously a plethora of information floating around in the minds of the posters on here. As long as the Astros keep my "Hottie Luke Scottie" so I'll have some eye candy, I'll be happy!
