Disagree. At first when Bonzi was standing at the 3 point line most of the time, that was on JVG. The last few games Bonzi's gotten in scoring position and just messed up. I hope his motivation isn't slipping because Yao is gone and our season is (probably) lost.

The last play of the game looked like a team with no idea of what to do. You have 16 sec to tie with a three and we don't even get a time out to draw up a good play?

I don't know what JVG was saving the 20 sec time out for I guess the next game, but we get a desparation 3 from Head with three Pacers in his face.

Dont fire JVG, fire Tracy. He did awful. I understand it was his first game back, but 8 TO's and a bunch of awful shots are inexcusable. He blew that last play, awful pass to Luther out of the double team. This one's on the whole team. They missed free throws, made terrible passes. They played good defense which kept them in the game. Give JVG credit for that.

The Rockets are reaching David Carr land. It's been what how many years now under jvg and we haven't done squat. We need to see what another coach can do with a Yao Ming when he's healthy. T-mac I don't know what to say about him. He played awful. I know you can't miss games and expect him to look the same but his decision making tonight said I don't really want to be playing this game anymore. He needs to just retire and take Bonzi with him.

Have to agree. This one's on Tracy and Head, maybe Bonzi and Deke too. Nothing wrong with the plays, just a lot of careless mistakes and bad shots.

JVG didn't take bad 3-pointers or throw the ball away. And don't say those TO's were because of bad play calls. Those were careless TO's pure and simple.

I know you don't really want to lose Bonzi Wells and Tracy McGrady off of a team that is struggling to score 80. I know Tracy was bad tonight, but think about it before you suggest something silly. Alston, Head, Battier, Howard, Deke. That's a 70 point per game team.

you are an idiot. you'd be the first person in history to fire a star like mcgrady and keep a coach who's never done jack?

why were we saving that timeout? tmac is rusty. that is a given. is gundy rusty also? was he saving that timeout for a rainy day?

Battier - great role player....should be a starter for most teams.

Bonzi - things will get better for him, however will take a month or so..

Rafer - the man shoots way too much for a PG, but maybe that say's something about the team.

Howard - he's old and slow, shows some signs of his former self, but far from a starting PF...belongs on the bench.

Head - great second year player, needs time to mature...

T-Mac - let's face it, he'll never be the same, he's an over-priced superstar who may be hold us back from improving our roster, cause it's lacking a bench/PF/decent backup C.... Unless he gets to his former self this team is gonna be stuck in neutral.

Hayes - the guy does not belong in this league, he jut does not fit any position.

    Sura - he might be a player...but that's off the court :p

Novak - all he can do is shoot.

Lucas - another guy who does not belong in the league...

Mutombo - he's just too old.

Snyder - can't shoot, but fits well as a role player.

Ming - the only superstar on this team.

V- Span - WOW a fifth player who should not be in the league...well atleast not now in his case.

Do not belong in the league:
    Mutombo
    Sura
    Hayes
    v-span
    Lucas

do you really think it's Gundy's fault??? i don't think so.

As much as i have kept quite about JVG (since i was hoping he would prove everyone wrong) i've beginning to realize that he may not be a bad coach...but he definitely isn't a good one either, maybe just a good defensive coach. Has anyone noticed when the opposing team calls a timeout close to the end of the game, Van Gundy stays quite in the huddle? He just keeps looking at the other team, but doesnt really say anything to his guys? Has anyone else seen this?

Also can someone explain to me what is the "chin" play they run? This is when Rafer points to his chin, 90 percent of the time this play never works. Does anyone know what i'm talking about?

I think Gundy is one of those coaches that believes in his system. It has its advantages - when its clicking the team looks like a championship team. Unfortunately JVG gets stubborn when the system fails. I dont know that this is such a bad thing. Zenmaster is pretty much the same way aboout his system, and it helped him more than it hurt.

If we can get Yao, Tmac and other role players to play about half a season's worth of games in this system and get it clicking, i see second round of playoffs at least.

How much did we hear about the handpicked roster of "Mr. Van Gundy guys?"
Do you really think it is not his fault???

man when you add up max contracts for mcgrady and yao plus howard - you don't really have much left to work with...the hope was that mcgrady will be able to make up for the lack of funds..he needs to the guy we had in our first year, the reality is he's never going to be that guy, now we are stuck!

who to blame? it's not necessarily mr. gundy. he might be part of the problem.

Every single one of those guys is league worthy. Do you pay attention to anyone outside the rockets?

Mutombo is gold. He is still a great defensive player and you cant name me a better backup to Yao in the world. Many teams pursued him including the Mavs

Sura was great while he played for us and a lot of outsiders admired him. He isnt playing right now so why even bring him up though?

Hayes is an absolute rebounding machine. May not be starter caliber, but still a great role player full of hustle and amazing rebounding. Led NBA i think in reb per 48 last year

VSPAN is a rookie who will take time obviously to adjust to the nba. He beat USA though and is full of potential, just needs to learn get over the curve.

Lucas is a good player too. Turned down the ****in pheonix suns to play for us.

All of those guys, if you cut them lose, will be picked up pretty quick by another NBA team. JVG has enough talent to win games.

I'm calling out all of the hysterical ninnies who are wetting themselves around here lately. To the crybabies who are calling it a season because Yao Ming got hurt and will miss a few months, I want to invite you to your local library so you can find some new hobbies besides following basketball. Needlepoint is supposed to be very relaxing. For the people who started this lame thread and, even worse, brought this lame thread back from the dead, I am serving up a free banquet of shut the hell up. You don't know basketball. You never have and never will. One of Jeff Van Gundy's nose hairs knows more about basketball then all of you losers put together times infinity.

As cliche as it sounds, "numbers don't lie". We're a good defensive team.

The next 3 games will be against some of the worst teams of the league. If we can't win 2 of them, JVG should be fired.
