I'm a man from China, and it's Yao who makes me know NBA, know Rockets. So I have witnessed Yao's growth in NBA. Last year, I felt quite sorrow for Yao's missing some games. But as his more powerful return, I've seen some more brilliant future of Rockets. So, don't worry, a stronger, more efficient, more horrible Yao will come back in Feb.. God bless Yao!
thankyou.......we here in houston care..........and screw the national media they dont know a gd thing yao is the man is and always will be
Pryuen, if you ever have an article in hand but have no time to translate it, just post the link here and somebody will do it. Thanks again for all your dedication to Yao during the offseason!
This article is from Sohu Sports. Sort of a telephone interview of Erik Zhang Mingji who is still in China, but obviously in close contact with Yao Ming. But this time, it looks more positive from what was reported by Wang Meng in a previous article. At least this time Zhang Mingji was not sure about whether Yao Ming can return in time for the NBA All Stars or not.
LMAO, Zhang Mingji must have split personality!!! So which quote is the correct one? Or we should just dont take those quotes seriously? Didnt one of the reporter also wrote that Yao had skipped the Jimmy Kimmel show? I really appreciate pryuen's effort because I know it takes a lot of time to translate these articles. But I think members here should be real careful when they read them. IMHO, they are nothing better than random rumors.
Maybe Erik Zhang is saying one thing to a close friend that happens to be media member and another thing to media because he needs to give fans some hope. (esp with all star voting) I believe he said both quotes.
no good news, an article from sina sports says it will probably requires 8-9 weeks instead of 6 weeks initially reported. 6 weeks is only for the bone recovery, and another 2-3 weeks is needed for muscle and strength. here is the link. Sorry for no translation. http://sports.sina.com.cn/k/2006-12-26/23442662137.shtml
Everyone here has enough intellectual ability to decide whether he/she wants to take something seriously or not. I for one do not need you to make a statement like that which sounds like you represent the opinion of everyone here. Who do you think you are anyway?
it's not my opinion. it's just my observation from 4 years of reading the forums. feel free to disagree.
What kind observation is that? What is your sample size? There are more than 21,000 members on this site. So how many have you identified to agree with your own opinion? I will be back after the game to see your answer.
Save the cheerleaders........SAVE YAO MING!!! I had just come home from a seven day carribean cruise and had a wonderful time. I was feeling great and took a minute to check out the box scores for the Rockets games that I had missed while away. I was gleeful to see that we had gone 2-1 and had beaten the Spurs in the process. I then went to the Clippers game that night and was chatting with my buddy when the incident occured. So I didn't see it when it initially happened but what turned my head was the silencing of the Toyota Center crowd and the scream from Yao... I immediately grabbed my binoculars and focused in on a 300+ pound 7'6" center curled up on the floor rithing in pain. You could have heard a pin drop when this happened. I had never heard a crowd go from such a loud scream to silence like that. Kind of gave me the creeps, and once I turned to see Yao on the floor the pit of my stomach dropped. I have been in a deep funk ever since that moment. In a league where thugs get paid millions and can't even make a jump shot at a high percentage. Where the scoring and fundamentals have gotten so bad that the league changes the rules in hopes of getting the scores up rather then encouraging the players to practice...practice? we talking 'bout practice? uhm yeah practice, you know its what professional athletes do in their spare time to improve their overall game, I'm sure you've heard of it? Well maybe not since you spend all your time chasing ho's, drinking gin and juice and smokin' blunts...but I digress. Enter Yao Ming, a gentle giant who immediately got a target put on his back by every dunkin' brotha in the league. A guy who gets officiated so badly that his coach is willing to give up his own hard earned cash in fines just to make sure its on the record. But given all the obstacles, critics and non-believers Yao put the work in, practices more then most players and as a result and has improved greatly in every statistical category and become the keystone of our team. This year as a result of this hard work he is putting up MVP caliber numbers and leading his team to one of the best records in the western conference. Then this happens....AGAIN!!! Not even the Texans win over the Colts for the first time ever on Sunday can come close to filling this void in me or change this feeling of somber disbelief that has taken over me. Yao is my hero in the NBA. Get well soon big fella
That post by OddsOn pretty much sums it up. It's not fair, but that's life. Yao Ming will probably come back with a LARGER fire so at least we can look forward to that. But I don't think he will be back in 6 weeks playing if they say it will take 6 weeks to heal, he will be ready to weight train in 6 weeks, then will come the jogging/running/jumping regiments, then he will train for the in game situations, then full practices, THEN he will play. That's what happened to our starting center when he got injured it took him like 8 weeks to heal a hairline fracture and then it took like 3 weeks before he could play, and even then he was rusty. And our seasons in High School weren't even that long so he was in playing shape a month before summer league when he went out midseason (early January). Of course he wasn't a 7'6 300 lb. professional athlete with an intense work ethic but that's just my experience with the rehab. Hope it gives some of you an idea what will happen.
The post by OddsOn was great. Have faith in Yao. He is among the hardest working athletes on this planet. He will be back, stronger than ever. He is not going to lay in bed all that 6 week for his bone to heal, instead he is going to shoot Fts in wheelchair just like what he did this past summer; he is going to be in the weighting room getting ready to punish whoever puts a body on him; he is going to watch all the tapes he can get to be more efficient and reduce his TOs. This guy is a true warrior, and when he comes back, he will tear through anything that dares to stand in his way. Get well soon, big fella, and keep healthy.
Thanks for the props on my post guys. I was just looking for an avenue to express my feelings in words and figured that this thread was the best place to do it since it would be following his rehab. By the way, thanks for all your hard work Pryuen. I know its not an easy thing translating Chinese into readable english. I appreciate all your efforts.
