ive been down all weekend, and i cant even bare to watch any nba games. i tried watching the lakers vs heats, and all i could do was think about yao.
There are some people that make this world a better place. Like the lady who pulled that little puppy out of a river last month. Or Yao Ming. As a matter of fact, Yao's a hero. Some might say the greatest hero of all.

you suck.... yao is my hero, but not because of basketball. he is a true gentelman, i dont care who you are, you have to apreciate a TRUE superstar who is so humble. yao is a star unlike any before him (he has literally made two nations closer) yet he is true to his fans, never blames anyone else, and works hard and gives it his all everyday. as far as heros go in sports it dsnt come any closer to that than yao. we love ya yao....get better soon.....you are the man. I am a white guy, and Yao is my hero. I think he is the coolest guy in the world. It was a Black X-mas indeed.

Here, here. Like many on this board, I've been a Rockets fan since long before Yao Ming. For sports memories, those glory years of 94 and 95 are the holiest of the holy. But I'll confess. All my eggs are in one basket. Ever since his rooke year when he charmed us through Colin Pine, I BELEVED in Yao Ming. I believed in his heart, his humility, his drive to improve. I believed in his sense of teamwork. His sense of commitment. Even his sense of humor. But as heypartner is getting at, now Yao Ming IS the Houston Rockets. Yao is the first athelete to make me feel like I'm 12 years old again, the first real sports "hero" I've had in my adult life. With him out of the lineup, it's just not the same. Even Rockets games aren't the same. For the next two months, even if we have T-Mac and even if we're competitive, I'm not going to look forward to Rockets games with the same only-30-minutes-til-tipoff!!!-like anticipation. Again, I was a Rockets fan for almost a decade before we struck gold in Yao. But now it's different. It's more than Ws and Ls, more than jockeying for playoff seeds. His is an amazing story. And through brilliant luck, it's also the Rockets story. Our story. I miss him.
I was holding my expectations in check. slightly different than holding your judgement. somewhat like holding my expectations of my puppy. I love that puppy now. If it weren't for the fact that I'm supposed to be my puppie's hero (her calm ascertive alpha -- thx Ceasar), I would say that she is my hero now.
I was a big doubter of Yao Ming in his first season. I never thought he would become a dominant player like he is today. I still always respected him and held him in a very high position, just because he is a great humble guy. my respect and love for him grew every season because he showed us through his improvements that he is a hard worker, and for me, nothing is more important that hard work. call me a r****d, but I really admired Ryan Bowen even though he sucked big time. I just respect his effort, he puts 100% effort every game. that's really great, the same applies to Chuck Hayes and Battier, except for the fact that they dont really suck now imagine a hard working, humble, classy player who jumped from being the joke of all the haters to an MVP contender, that's what Yao means to me. get well soon, big man
Yao is the face of H-Town basketball and will be until he decides to retire. This guy will be Rocket for Life and I am glad that he will be here till he does retire. Loyal till the end that is Yao.
