It says "Breaking News" in red at the top of the page. Heres the link. http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/12/24/brown.ailing/index.html
It's on Yahoo's main page as well. R.I.P. Godfather of Soul. Maybe I'll pop in the church scene in The Blues Brothers as a tribute to the man.

I wasnt sure at first cause I kept seeing conflicting reports but I guess its true. RIP to the greatest.
Damn!!!!!!! This is a mans world.... but it wouldn't me nothin, without a woman or child..... RIP JB.
This is a performance James Brown made the day after Martin Luther King was killed in 1968 in Boston. I think this clip shows a lot of what made James Brown great..not just the musical brilliance, funk and energy, but also the heart and pride and wisdom. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IeOSZryERqo"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IeOSZryERqo" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

Dean Martin died on this day 11 years ago. Billy Martin died on this day 17 years ago. Them and JB, I can't think of any other famous person that died on Christmas Day. RIP JB.
Greatest interview ever: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4-_YkTjFwW8"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4-_YkTjFwW8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
It's sad that most people will only know him for the song from the Rocky movie or the drugged up interview from a few years ago, instead of one of the most influential....no, THE most influential artist/performer of our time. Rap, Soul, Hip-hop, Funk, pretty much any kind of so-called 'black' music....none of it would exist as it does today, or as it has for the last 40+ years if not for JB. They didn't call him the Godfather of Soul for nothing. I don't know, I suggest you buy as many James Brown albums as you can. You won't regret it.
One of my favorite artist of all time. For those not in the know, check out the song "Can't Stand It." with out a doubt, THE funkiest song ever bar none.
R.I.P. I second ima_drummer, anything you here in Rap,funk and soul has his imprint on it. I was watching Head (The Monkees movie, yes the Monkees) on TV not long ago. Mickey Dolenz was doing his best/worst JB impersonation and of course the young girls were going ape****. It was one of thopse wtf moments. The other thing people should look for, is his appearance on the Tammi show, where he pulls out all the stops. Supposedly he goes all out to show the lead singer of the next group on the show how it's done. Rest In Peace......as the song goes, we lost someone whose greater than the stars above.
