There are internet rumors swirling that Ron Artest is available. He has suddenly been sitting out games with sore knees. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp...y?coll=la-headlines-sports&ctrack=1&cset=true If so, would you welcome him in Houston considering our current situation? If he has to be moved again maybe his trade value will be lower than normal. The following packages would bring him here: Artest for Sura, Alston and our #1. Provides cap relief for Sac and another PG if they are really shopping Bibby. Artest for Sura, Padgett, Snyder and our #1. With T-Mac, Artest & Battier as our 2-4, and Wells off the bench I think we can stay afloat until Yao comes back. If Yao doesn't come back then Artest still provides insurance in the future in case T-Mac never regains his form, or even if he does a Yao. T-Mac Artest combo would be deadly going forward.
Artest is the perfect player we need. He's horifically underpaid for the next 3 years. It would be like adding another super-star calibur player at mid-level salary.
If he is sitting out games with sore knees under Musselman, he'll be sitting out the rest of the season with broken knees under JVG.
He threatened to kill Bonzi if he left the Kings last year. I don't see why he couldn't fit in on this Rockets team
This is EXACTLY the kind of situation we need to keep our eyes on. A player like Artest could have helped save our season last year and most certainly could help do the same this year. He makes like $7 million a year so he's clearly worth the risk and tradeable if things crash & burn. Not to mention a defensive duo of Battier and Artest would pretty much be a veritable hell for any dominating scorer we would face. I'm sure the Kings could get more for him than anything we could offer though.....
I would love Artest here. He's like battier but even better at D plus hes pretty damn good at offense as well. But, I doubt they'll deal him, especially for the trade from the begining of this thread. I would have to more like Rafer, Battier, First Rounder, and someone else, and I still dont think they would even do that.
Things in Sacremento are a mess and this situation with Artest and the organization only seems to be getting worse. They are in need of an impact player, wouldn't a talented player familiar with the system make sense? BONZI!!! I know the Clippers are offering Maggete but for real, screw that. Sure on paper Maggette looks more appealing but he's a black hole and i'm pretty sure i've stepped on egg shells tougher than he is. Bonzi (impact player) + Sura (cap relief) + draft considerations (if necessary) straight up for Artest......THEN....try to parlay Snyder or somebody like that to another team for a PG/SG that can shoot and handle the ball.....then use the 4.2 TE on a player like Steven Hunter that can provide some frontcourt depth. I'm not saying its a flawless fool-proof plan or anything, but I think I like it better than any other suggestions I have seen or simply just jumping on the TANK bandwagon.
i understand the craziness of artest but hes probably the best defender in the league and JVG loves defense-minded players, so ithink his defense and craziness would balance each other out... id take artest.
I don't think we could get him for that. That would be straight up robbery! I'm sure that someone like Dallas, Miami, or possibly GS would get in on the bidding. I'm pretty sure Cuban would gladly deal anyone except Dirk and Howard to get him. Don't know if Sac would be interested, but I'm sure it would increase the price of Artest.
Wasn't there news going round that Artest fancies himself The Man in Sacto now? And about him having beef with Bibby. Meh...Sounds like someone's getting too full of himself. Bibby...now that'd be nice.
You think Bonzi will be taking plays off knowing Artest is waiting for him on the bench *grin* Ron ' THE REGULATOR!!" Artest Rocket River
He's underpaid only if you consider $7.2m close to the $5.4m MLE. (2008-09 POpt @ 8.5m). He's underpaid if you can trade exactly $7.2m for $7.2m. If you envoke the assisgned player exceptiopn + 100k and trade a $5.7m for Artest...you will quickly run over the LTax and he could cost close to $8m this season. He also basically plays the same position...SG/SF...as McGrady, Battier, Bonzi, Head and Snyder. If you're going to take a $7m risk...take it at PG, PF or backup C. He's underpaid if he's on the court. Which (lately) hasn't been often and the reason he's available after less the 82 games in SAC...under a coach who is just as bit a disciplinarian as Van Gundy. And if Rick Adelman is in your future, maybe he'd rather not have to chose which of the above mentioned SF/SG's is on the court. Nice player...not worth the mental BS. Wells is far more "manageable" and we've seen how that worked out.
