I've noticed lately that rafer will not shoot desperation shots at the end of quarters. I know it happened once last night, and once against the spurs. He'll just hold the ball and let time expire. Last night he recieveed an inbound -full court with like 1.2 seconds left in the half. Nobody was guarding him, why not let the ball roll 1/4 of the court, pick it up, take a dribble and shoot a half court shot. It seems like a lack of intensity to me. I remember when i played in high school that would be one of the best parts of the game, having the ball with the clock going down. To me, not even attempting a shot in those situations are unexcusable. If I was Gundy I'd bench him for it. Why not play the free lottery, that is the full court shot. Now I've vented.

He must have picked it up from McGrady. McGrady did the same thing before he was injured.

They need to think about it some more. Give the ball up to someone who doesn't mind jacking it up. Why deprive a teammate of a miracle?

That's the only time I have seen him done it lately. I may have missed him doing it in other quarters, while going to the fridge. *shrug*

It's annoying. It's like giving up a free shot.

Put in Novak, let's see how good of a shooter he really is ;)

he got it from mcgrady. i remember seeing t-mac catch an inbound with 2-3 seconds left and he just let the time expire.

I've noticed this also. Who cares? Our team just suffered a catastrophic injury. We went from hoping for home-court advantage to hoping to survive for the post-season, and you're worrying about who's taking or not taking 80-footers?

If JVG, the ultimate perfectionist doesn't give a crap about this, there's no reason why you should either. Move on.

Besides, Rafer already has enough issues with 25-footers. I suggest he positions himself closer to the basket when he tries to get open, more like Juwan's range. I'd sacrifice one extra point to boost his FG%.

for all of rafer's faults, this is a complete non issue.

yo man... but at least we got to see the rafer dance.. that is an unbelievable dance move. too bad it had to come when we were down 5 with 15 seconds...

maybe next time he will shoot quick and showcase his dancing skills during the first 3 quarters.

The rockets need every bucket they can get. It's very trivial solution to .001% of the rockets problems but you gotta start somewhere

Speaking of .001%, that's also the probability that anybody on our team makes a full-court shot.

everyone does it, just pay attention, usually people will pretend like they're trying for a shot but intentionally wait until the bell expires and then shoot, others shoot and go to the scorers table to tell them not to count it

This has to be among the most moronic things I've heard.

You are talking of a 0.001% or however much chance of getting 3 points. Well guess what, if you don't shoot, you have 100% chance of getting 0 points. Gee, I wonder which one I would take.

I can understand if we're up by 10 with 2 seconds left in the 4th quarter, we don't want to rub it in the other team's face. But not shooting before the game is over, especially if it's close, is plain moronic.
