Yao will take some chinese herbs to speed up the healing process.
    3 Weeks to heal
2 Weeks to get back into shape.
    ---
    5 Weeks total

It's diffcult to be Rox fans. But this may not be a totally bad news.

First, Rox won't win too many games anyway with Just Yao. And Yao finally got his well-deserved rest and could make the final push with Tracy for the playoffs once they're all back. Cuz with the way JVG has been using Yao, he would be deadly exhausted by the time the post season starts.

Second, once Yao's out, JVG would play Novak, Vspan, and JL3 more. They need playing time to gain experience and develop as better players. I mean they got the potential, why not give them a try, JVG? Head is the great example who benefited from the injuries of both stars last season. If Rox wanna go deep in the playoffs, role players are as important.

Let us hope that the remaining Rox could win some games and Yao won't miss a beat of his game after he's back.

I will pray for Yao everyday starting from now. I believe he will be back earlier than that. Hope TMAC will be back soon. :(

You did read the other posts? they showed quite a lot of respect.

Why the hostility against Lakerspride? As far as I see he does not try to get us winded up, or mad. He actually seems to feel sorry for us, and tries to make us feel better. So no reason to get mad at him.

    This is really bad.

Well, we have to look at the brighter side of things at our darkest hours, right ?

    • There is no MCL, ACL, PCL or whatever CL....
    • It's a non-displaced fracture of his right tibia that hopefully will not require surgery
    • Yao Ming is a tough guy, a warrior, and a quick healer. When he broke his foot in April last season, and even after a surgery, he resumed training in June, 6 weeks after the surgery.
Just hope that this time round......he could continue watching video tapes of the game, learn about other team's play games/style, resume walking soon, and carry on some other upper limbs/strength and conditioning training together with Anthony Falsone.

For some reasons, I believe he can return to court sooner than what you indicate........

Let's hope the Rockets without him, and probably Tracy McGrady too, could as Jonathan Feigen said, step up and try to win games they should win, and steal a game or two here and there, to accumulate sufficient wins that then when he and Tracy return healthy, the Rockets is still not out of reach for the playoff.

That's the least as Yao Ming and Rockets fans can hope for, right ??

I don't know if the Rockets should just tank this season or keep fighting hard. If JVG could fully develop the bench players, such as Novak and VSpan, and the team could keep it close around 50%, we will have a great shot at playoff after Yao comes back. I just hope Yao could recover soon! :( Bless him!

    guys it ain't that bad

I had a similar injury from a rugby tackle, hairline crack on the rear tibia bone

out for a couple of onths on crutches, after that no issues, but it did take a bit of time to regain my strength, and now no issues. I can rebound and jump like a mad man

Here are the comments from a Chinese expert on Sport Medicine (Link - http://sports.sina.com.cn/k/2006-12-24/15172658933.shtml). Sounds not that bad.

Non-displaced fracture is very painful and that is why Yao struggled on the floor for so long. The treatment for non-displaced fracture is fixation and waiting it to heal naturally. This may take 4 to 6 weeks. Moreover, if well treated and rested, there will leave no impact (on Yao's play).
