I expect us to go 0-january. I'm worried about the big picture. I have the sad feeling we just lost a franchise player before his time. :(

Mark Price and Brad Daugherty. Except our guys are as talented as Kobe and Shaq. Sucks. Oh well, atleast we can look forward to trading the lottery pick for Udonis Haslem.

Don't be sad. If we follow the Cavs pattern, we've got the H-town version of LeBron coming, just 12 years from now....

Oh you mean like a local high school phenom man-child being drafted #1 overall by the hometown Houston team? Hey whatever happened to that one longhorn quarterback?

Not if they get the player they want. The Rockets wanted Brandon Roy last time and ended up with Rudy Gay.

How many injuries Yao had for the last 1.5 years? It is crazy. He is now just as injure prone as T-Mac.

    Houston Rockets is doomed.

Sad...but increasingly likely to be true.

    Life is bullsh-t sometimes. :(

I would like to think his toe injury is more likely bad doctor advice.
But his other injuries are bad injuries.
He probably won't play more than 60 games anymore per season. Just like Shaq.

Just goes to show that the "win now" idea by management was stupid. Tmac is done after this season. We need developing talent to play alongside Yao NOW! No more Alstons and Jhos.

I wouldn't say that yet. The toe problem should've done way earlier, while the broken foot and the broken bone in this case were freak injuries that happened to occur during the run of play. TMac's back problem is chronic and could reappear by simply jumping and landing weird with minimal contact. I just hope this won't limit Yao's aggressiveness when he comes back. That's what I'm concerned about. His scoring ability won't diminish, but if he becomes worried every time he challenges a shot, then his improved defense will suffer greatly.

I see your point of view, but when you talk of Rookies and developing players it would mean that we DON'T need to have JVG as our Head Coach, because he can't coach developing players, especially when they are Rookies.
We could start with a new coaching staff Jan 1st 2007!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yao should be fine.

This board is going to come unglued though.

I think I might stay out of the GARM (even more than I already do) for the next week or more.

the overexcited 14 year olds will get tired of screaming out their despair for yao's injury...and eventually...some kind of maturity will push through...reminds me of the grief reaction...something i did in psych class...first denial...then anger then bargaining then depression then finally acceptance...i'm beginning to the see the first light of anger with that photoshop thread and some bargining with trade threads...mark my word...this forum will go through every stage of that process... ;)

What the crap have you been smoking? Broken bones are nothing in all the sports injuries. and Oden is not injury free either. I say we take Durant and put him at PF.

Like I said in another thread, Yao's recent injury history has the feel of freak accidents. Whenever he comes back, he comes back 100%. In fact he comes back better than ever. He doesn't have nagging injuries, and he looks completely fine physically.

As for oden, if we got the #1 pick, I'd be more inclined to check it's trade value. Oden and luggage for Billups and Hamilton? Oden for Chris Paul and their #1? Oden and change for Deron Williams and Ronnie Brewer?

Maybe Oden/Yao can be a new age Duncan/Robinson, but grabbing a legit point guard would be mighty nice for our current window.

Of course we'd need to be really bad or really lucky to even land Oden. I'd rather go for the playoffs and try to get Tracy and Yao ready for a healthy run.
